As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, July 6

1. Read in the news that “competitive eating” is a popular sport in America, particularly at holidays, with contests for everything from chicken wings to “turducken”, turkey stuffed with duck stuffed with chicken. Turns out today 25,000 people watched this Japanese man, Kobayashi, devour 53 hotdogs in 12 minutes in Brooklyn, New York. Now I’ve got too many questions on this one so I’ll just let you ponder this piece of news on your own!
2. Well, today was the day of the big DOG ROAST! Although I was surprisingly very interested to check this out and try a piece of it, I opted out at last minute. In between dancing in the apartment and well, doing nothing productive, I was too preoccupied and couldn’t get motivated to get out of my boy-shorts and tank top.
3. I think I’ve mastered Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video. My dance moves are pretty good competition for him, even if I do say myself! Ha, ha, ha.
4. Ventured over in the rain to see my little Sue. She’s so cute. Today she tried to teach me how to swim like a dolphin. We laughed so hard and I think I got rug burn! Ouch!
5. I’m a terrible older sister! I totally forgot that it’s Sue’s birthday tomorrow and so I had to create the world’s most convincing white lie so I could bail myself out of this one.
6. Told Sue that I didn’t bring her gift tonight cause Ryan wanted to come with me to wish her a happy birthday. Great, now I have to go and convince Mr. Anti-Social to be somewhat social and venture over here with me.
7. Topic of discussion tonight with Sue was swimming and dancing. Apparently her father is quite the dancer but her impersonation of him was scary. Turns out he’s a big fan of what Korean’s call “The Booby Dance”… oh my gosh… stop that Sue. Moves like that are going to get you in trouble cutie!
8. Possible plans on having Hyo Hoon (Ryan’s cousin) over on Saturday which means she’ll be staying will me. This also means I’ll have to clean the whole house despite the fact that the plans aren’t definite yet…. great.
9. Turns out I’m quite the musician. Not only did I write a sleppy-time song for Ryan in English but I also wrote one in Korean too!

10. Ryan… turns out you’re quite the ROTTEN musician…. you’re cute as a button but your song SUCKED, with a capital “S”!!!

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
How does one go about training for a "competitive eating" contest?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
You are what you eat... weiner!
-- some random fan watching the eating contest.

Okay, what's up with "Thriller"? Sung-gu has been watching all of the old Michael Jackson videos. He claims it's not a retro-fad of some sort in Korea but I want the scoop from someone who actually lives there!
