1. First day back teaching at Eumbong Elementary School and apparently the little “Bad Boy” crew from my grade 5 class didn’t deal with their attitude in the summer. So, hey came to class today and their bad attitudes were just as strong as before. I approached their homeroom teacher about this ongoing problem and she basically ripped them another hole in front of everyone! Ouch!
2. My parents’ English class isn’t starting up till next week and so after I arrived back at the middle school from teaching the elementary, I had 3 ½ hours to kill.
3. Ryan ditched me tonight for two guys, Kwong Ho and Shin Woo, and so besides venting to Andi via email, I basically did nothing. Finally at 1am I figured I couldn’t fall asleep despite the great deal of boredom that had set in. Got up, got dressed and ventured out to go see Je Min. As I was crossing the street I heard someone call my name. No sooner did I turn around to look but then I saw Steve (from SLP) standing across the street. We literally stopped downtown traffic as we hugged in the middle of the intersection.
4. Turns out Patty (former co-worker of mine from SLP) is leaving in a week and so I joined up with them to help her celebrate her upcoming freedom. We went to Club Zizi where we got our own private room. Huge laughs by all as the DJ (super small Korean who just barely can be considered a man) revealed his mid-section and did free wieght lifts. I say, if that's what he does for a living than yes, he should have a ripped chest like that. Ha, ha, ha!!!
5. The place was packed with Koreans and so we fought hard to represent the Western countries! I think we were successful cause they loved us! Apparently Patty was woman-handled on the dancefloor while I was stuck with super skinny Korean BOYS who were trying to be all in my face.
6. Reminisced with the staff about good old times and chatted up a storm with the new staff about the kindergarten kids…. I miss those mini Koreans so much.
7. Oh please… can you make it any more obvious that you’re trying to get my attention. While sitting talking to Je Min, this dude (whom I’ve had the displeasure of meeting before.. Mr. Cook) tried 101 ways to make me look his way. I especially was annoyed when he felt the urge to translate every word I said to Je Min. Sorry dude but you did not get an invite into this conversation.
8. Mr. Cook tried to bedazzle me with bragging about all the Western food he can cook. He ranted and raved for about ten minutes before I started to laugh. He asked me why I was laughing and so I (being totally not impressed at this point) said, “I live in Korea. I eat Korean food. Do I look like a girl who eats cheeseburgers and tons of pasta?” He still didn’t get the hint.
9. Reached the low point of my patience with Mr. Cook when he tried so eagerly to force his cell phone in my face so that he could take my picture. I snapped. I took his cell phone, ripped off the battery and put it in my purse. I told him I’d give it back to him when I left.
10. Called it a night at 5:30am.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Where'd you learn that move?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good.
-- Edwin Denby
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
