As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Tuesday, August 1

1. Turns out I think I’m allergic to my precious, precious Chrest toothpaste! After brushing my teeth I realize some had dropped on my skin. Upon wiping it off, I noticed that the skin was irritated and it looked like a rash was resulting! Oh no! Recently I’ve been obsessed with brushing my teeth (cause of my fear of having to visit a dentist).
2. The English camp class notoriously known among us foreigners as the boring class was awesome for me today. Mind ya lots weren’t in attendance. Attendance today for this class was at a record low… 11 out of the 20 showed up.
3. One of the coolest kids at this camp, besides my own students here that totally rock, is a middle school boy by the name of Kevin. Today he tried to sell me on why he thinks he the most perfect of Korean boys. His beautiful shiny black hair was one of his reasons and so I had to laugh… pretty much ALL Koreans have black hair!
4. Topic of discussion today with my E1 elementary class today was what talents they thought they had. One boy entertained us all (disturbed me though) with his ability to put his whole fist in his mouth. Another boy showed how he could put his leg behind his back. In Canada we have places for these people… it’s called the circus! Just joking… ha, ha, ha.
5. You know your students aren’t paying attention when you’re receiving text messages on your phone and they’re from students in your class. The elementary girls are obsessed with text messaging me but today they went a little too far with it.
6. Had the middle school classes to teach today and that was really unproductive. They’re addicted to the Mafia game I taught them. We’ve even improved it but how they can be entertained by the same silly game for over an hour is beyond me.
7. Still haven’t planned my trip to Jeju Island and so I’m a bit frustrated with that.
8. Got hit with reality today. As I watched my students play, I started thinking about what I was like when I was their age and then it hit me…. I’m turning 26 on Sunday. That means I’m no longer in my mid-twenties… I’m creeping closer to 30!!!
9. Discovered the Dog Restaurant on my way home from English camp. I know I agreed to try it but I’m nervous I’ll totally lose my appetite. Trying to prep myself up for the big taste-test day.
10. Ryan went and hung out with Darren today. I thought he’d be back in an hour and so I waited. Five hours later I woke up cold, alone and bored out of my skull. I was so unmotivated to do anything but I did move myself up to my bed.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What's your secret talent?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
I've never seen a smiling face that was not beautiful.

I put off going to the dentist when I lived in Korea--for 5 years! Not a good idea; I ended up having to have a root canal and a tooth pulled. The good news was that I had an excellent Korean dentist and it cost me next to nothing. The whole procedure was completely pain free too. I never even touched the pain killers I was given.

Man, I remember those nights when SG would go out with his friends and end up being out until the wee hours of the morning. I used to get really worried when he didn't get back until 3 or 4 a.m. I sure don't miss that!
