1. The new principle came waltzing into school today and out of all the teachers and staff who flooded the staff room to meet the new principle, he had to walk straight up to me and ask me “What you name?” Talk about intimidating. He’s got a gold tooth!
2. Scrambled to find my indoor shoes as I raced out the door to go to my elementary school. Their principle is very strict with “soft shoes”. So, in fear of getting yelled again for not wearing “soft shoes”, I taught my first class in bare feet so that he couldn’t hear any tapping of my high heels.
3. As my grade 5 elementary class rushed into the classroom I sat back and tried to fake a smile. This class (mainly a few select boys) always give me grief. They sport attitude way beyond their years. Much to my surprise though, today they were awesome! They sat through the whole lesson without giving attitude and even the trouble-makers in the class volunteered. I was so happy and impressed so I promised them a snack party and game day for next week’s English class.
4. Discovered the secret behind today’s success with the grade 5 class. Turns out their homeroom teacher gave them a major lecture about behaving in my class. The fact that she walked in and out of my class several times while I taught intimidated them and helped to keep them in line.
5. With no after school classes in set yet till next week, it left me with 4 hours to kill after my morning elementary classes. Oh gosh.
6. Entertained myself in the afternoon by emailing random people, mastering the tetris game on my phone, labeling pictures on my cell phone, alphabetizing my teaching handouts, and blurting out random Korean words as I attempted to study Korean.
7. Got ahead of myself and made a promise to my co-worker that I’d learn 23 new Korean words by Monday. I think I’ve really out-done myself this time cause now she’s wanting to test me on Monday. Pressure is definitely on!
8. Boredom definitely was setting in tonight and so I thought I’d entertain myself by making a call to a friend in Canada. I was craving English. However, I ended up calling the wrong Mike and ended up calling my brother’s friend. Talk about having a dumb moment. I was so embarrassed and so instead of saying that I got the wrong number, I made up a silly story to cover my butt.
9. I don’t think he bought my story. I’m sure to be labeled “the strange” girl now. Great!
10. Nothing of interest happened in the evening. I emailed some friends, pondered some questions, listened to music, and then went to bed early.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Can I go home early, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
I have my own little world, but it's okay - they know me here.

As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
