1. Started my Sunday off with a big plate of pancakes… this is the life!
2. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of making silly faces to random mini-Koreans as I fly by on the scooter. Kids here are so cute and their curiosity with foreigners is just so amusing.
3. Ryan has officially mastered the art of pasta with his prize fettuccini alfredo dish he made tonight. Scrumptious!
4. Okay, okay… I’ll change the music on my homepage. After various comments from people, turns out “Stand by Me” is not a favorite tune of many. Don’t forget to press the button to hear the new song though!
5. Furniture shopping!!! I’m hoping this is the last of it too. Today shopping was quick and painless… we went in, saw something great, and now it looks like I’m the proud new owner of another shelving unit.
6. Holy sensory overload! Decided to walk into “Toujours” (only the most amazing bakery) and I was bombarded with all the delicious smells, the huge selection of pastries, and all the temptation. I fought off the temptation the best I could but still walked out with a bag full of baked goods. Ha, ha, ha.
7. And of course we went to LotteMart… it’s like the Korean version of Walmart. This place is great! And, like always, we can NEVER just go in for one thing and come out with that one thing…. no, that’d be too hard. Ha, ha, ha.
8. It happened…. after almost a year of no contact, I talked to my ex-fiancé back in Canada. It was brief, it was friendly, but nonetheless, it was awkward.
9. Have you ever met someone and just knew that there was something special about them and you knew that you are sure to be friends…. that’s Jung Hyoi to me. Tonight I put off my studying for another hour and instead chatted on msn with him just for the simple reason that I think he’s worth it.
10. With only 1 hour left to Sunday, I finally put my nose in the books. I had totally neglected studying my Korean vocab for tomorrow’s big test! Oh gosh! Talk about late night cramming…ha, ha, ha.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Are you happy?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it come true. You may have to work for it, however.
-- Richard Bach
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
