1. Some random girl sent me a "friends request" on Facebook and my immediate thought was, "Oh great, another girl who's mistake my boxer pictures as me being a lesbian", it's happened before and so I thought it was the same situation playing out today. I messaged her back and asked her if I knew her. Turns out it's the girlfriend of one of my brothers... oops. Had a good giggle over that.
2. I know it's late news but today I heard about Ryan Seacrest trying to high five some blind guy... see, now this is exactly why I don't watch TV... hahaha.
3. I've never been one to stick around the girl's change room after working out longer than it takes me to grab my stuff and jet it out of there. But today, today I forgot my hat and so instead of walking home with drenched with sweat hair, I reached for the club's hairdryer in the change room. Just as I went to grab it though the buck-naked young girl beside me also grabbed it. I told her "you first" and waited for my turn. However, no sooner did she turn it on but then she began to blow dry her "down-there-area"... oh my gosh. She then offered me the hairdryer. I was so disgusted and had I known how to say it in Korean, I would have told her "I want nothing to do with anything that's been near your crotch thanks". If you have to blow dry your "down-there-area" hair than that should be a big enough sign that it's time to do something about it, and blow-drying it isn't the answer, weed-whacker yes but blow-dryer no. I tell ya, personal grooming is so underrated in this country... nasty!!!
4. Got a strange call today. A short and sweet phone call from the TV Show "Love in Asia", asking me if I still use my KB Bank account. "Yes" I said, to which the lady went on to say, "OK, I will call you again next week."
5. Hours spent studying Korean = 6 hours.
6. Got an embarrassing public beating at boxing, seriously. I thought it was a joke. Q and I arrived at the boxing club and Junior Mint called me over. He asked me to explain myself and so I did. I seriously thought I had no fight and so I had missed some training days, no big deal... or so I thought. I average about one day a month in which I miss training but in the last week I've missed three and to Junior Mint it was a definitely big deal, as I found out tonight. So, he pulled out his massive 4 foot long wooden stick from behind his desk and told me to lean towards the couch. "Are you serious?" I asked him, but by the look on his face I knew he wasn't joking. Oh gosh... everyone was watching. I tried to laugh it off but it hurt like a mofo. I gave Q a dirty look for not sticking up for me, after all, it was him that told me I didn't have a fight and insisted that I relax with my diet.
7. The last time I was spanked like this I was like 10 years old or so and it was from my mother. She use to use a broken wooden cutting board which, later in life, I was very proud to brag to my brothers that I had hid it in my room... hahaha. Say whatever you want about spanking kids but I knew I was well deserving of each and every spanking when I was a kid, plus extra considering all the things that I never got caught for. But spanking a 28 year old?!... talk about a humbling experience.
8. I believe him now, Junior Mint that is. Today he added a "with" and a name to his sentence. Her name, Kim Bo Young. I Googled her on the Internet. She's two years younger than me, is 5ft 2" (just like me), and our fight together will be her sixth fight. Although she lost three and won two, her experience in the ring is definitely an asset to her... and don't even get me started on the whole "home advantage" on her side.
9. Because of my abscesses from training, Junior Mint drilled me like an animal and pushed me around the ring. I didn't dare tell him that I was tired but tired didn't even begin to describe what I felt. I was exhausted. He made me go five rounds with him on pad work and refused to take breaks in between each round. He yelled at me, telling me that my punches lacked power and so I joked and said, "Ya, like any other girl here is stronger than me", which only caused him to drill me more. Then he made me do extra rounds on the heavy bag, drilled me with ab work, and then ended my training with a lecture about missing practice. Training tonight lasted almost 2 hours and ended with me puking a bit in the club's bathroom.
10. Needless to say, I was pretty much too wiped out to do anything else tonight. It was 10:30pm by the time I left boxing and so I came home, showered, chugged down a protein shake, nibbled on some green peppers, and then vegged on the couch with Q, Mi Nam and a movie.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Have those girls never seen "Sex and the City"?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Our bodies are our gardens - our wills are our gardeners.
-- William Shakespeare
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

So friggin' hilarious! I love how you just write it how it is. I would have slapped that gal for doing that. And yes, I agree. Personal grooming is so underrated.
Good luck with your upcoming fight Amy. I'm glad to hear that it's back on because I know how important it is to you. I can totally relate to needing some kind of goal to strive towards too. Your fight is your goal, it's yours. Now go get it.
"Although she lost three and won two..."
Actually, it's the other way around. She WON three and LOST two (she lost her third and fifth fights).
"...her experience in the ring is definitely an asset to her..."
Yeah. She's gone 6 rounds, and fought an 8-round title fight.
"...and don't even get me started on the whole "home advantage" on her side...."
Nah. That's one advantage YOU'LL have. More people will be cheering for you than for her.
Where's the fight? And WHEN?
Hello?
Yo Casey,
Hahaha... thanks. Someone should teach these girls, I mean, many Korean girls date Western guys. Western guys, the ones I know at least, wouldn't go for that!
Hi Anonymous,
Thank you very much, that was very kind of you.
Hey Bad Lieutenant,
Sorry... got your message but realizing that I read her stats wrong kind of gave me an early morning freak-out yesterday.
How do you think I'll be advantaged though and have more people cheering for me?
The fight is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17th, in the early afternoon. I think it's in Jung-Ju, if I recall correctly. I thought my coach said Chung-Ju but I was mistaken... I've never heard of Jung-Ju though.
"How do you think I'll be advantaged though and have more people cheering for me?"
Just a hunch.
Make you a deal. If I'm wrong, I'll refrain from posting any perverted messages for a month.
If I'm right, you get a double dose!
Hi Bad Lieutenant,
Ok, sounds fair enough... deal is on big guy! Having said that though, I sure hope you are right, for the sake that I sure wish the "home advantage" is just a simple misunderstanding of some judges in the past.
