As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Tuesday, February 10

1. I just couldn't do it. After listening to the Cheonan Trump go on and on about how he regrets not taking me to America with him and how in the stress of the moment he ended up saying half the beautiful English speech I wrote for him in Korean, I just couldn't bring myself to ask him for a favour. And so his bad day turned into my bad morning. My intentions were to ask him to sponsor me for my upcoming game but that totally flopped. He did however refit my mouth guard that he made for me awhile back and so that was pretty sweet. Now it fits like a glove.

2. I always get the occasional peering eyes wondering in my direction whenever I visit the Cheonan Trump but today I got them talking when he was working on my mouth guard. All of a sudden I felt like a celebrity surrounded with paparazzi; it was hilarious. So there I was with my mouth wide open, laying on my back, while the Cheonan Trump tended to my fitting and while eight of his employees fled their working stations to watch. And so, when I got up to look in the mirror and see if I was content with my new fitting, I gave them a couple split seconds of shadow boxing, just for jokes... hahaha. They loved it though. They all clapped and then asked me to pose while they some of them snapped my picture on their cell phones.

3. Turns out PC rooms in Korea aren't exactly used for anything else but playing games on and so finding a computer that had any kind of Word program on it was like pulling teeth. Turns out the greatness of Open Office only extends to my personal computer. Note to self, next time I save a file, save it as a Microsoft Word 95 doc. It'll save me the frustration of arriving at Dankook University and having it not work.

4. Apparently I was quite the sideshow at the post office too as many people nudged themselves to watch me try to explain my situation to the postal dude. I was trying to explain to the guy that I needed them to put my envelop in another envelop because it's being sent to my parents. My parents will then be sending it to the person addressed on the initial envelop. I looked to see if anyone could help me but all I got were people willing to talk about me but not to me. "Oh look, the foreign girl can talk in Korean." "Oh look... the foreign girl can count in Korean." Listen, I wasn't in the mood, I just got into a small spat with Q, and I was running late on my errands. Having a room full of people commenting and starring at me like I was a two-headed jug-juggling woman at some traveling fold-up sideshow freak show wasn't helping the situation. Finally I turned and blurted out, "My name's Amy and if I can speak Korean, I can also understand what I hear." Still no one helped. Finally I got it figured out.

5. Over a year later and minus 7kgs, Buff Boy the Original walked back into my life. Technically he was always here but he had gone off to Australia to study English and well, last year I was kind of MIA to most people in my life.

6. We met up for tea at Coffee Bean but one tea turned into us venturing over to Galleria for chicken salad and then returning for another tea. That tea turned into quite the long conversation and ended with us heading over to Tom N Toms coffee shop so that I could use their Internet and call England on behalf of his friend that later met up with us. Meeting up for a quick tea turned into a 3 hour ordeal.

7. I guess I didn't realize how much I missed Buff Boy the Original until I saw him today. He's still the same overly sarcastic guy that insists I'm still Princess Smelly Feet and is still overly blunt and honest with his stories... oh gosh. Turns out he's not changing universities, as initially planned, and so he'll be attending Dankook University again in the fall... cool. This means I get to see more of him.

8. Training tonight was pretty light and easy minus the pad work and the fact that Tang treated Junior Mint and Milk Dud to a loaded pizza. It was packed to the brim with oozing cheese, potato, and all the fixings. The smell of it seemed to fill up the club and my nostrils tingled with it's delicious smell. I'm proud to say I didn't give in. Mind ya, as soon as they finished it, I tossed the box out of the club, thus getting rid of any reminders of its' existence, and cranked open the windows to air the club out.

9. New idea: why don't I fly out to Japan in March to watch Black Skinny fight? This way I can support my teammate, fed my image with the press, and possibly, hopefully, get to see Satoshi!!! Wicked idea!

10. Was running on a natural high late into the evening because of my late night training and so after boxing I decided to take Mi Nam out for a midnight jog. I brought baggies along for my "dirty-duty-duties" but little did I know I was about to become a victim of Mi Nam's dirty duties. Without getting into too much into the details, I will say this, I thought his little "I'm-pooing" wiggle-and-jiggle dance was over and so I scooped down with a baggy to scoop it up... BUT... no sooner did I do that but Mi Nam took a couple of back steps and plop... down landed a chunker right on the back on my hand. Q found this all quite hilarious, as you can imagine, and joked that this has officially brought Mi Nam and my relationship much closer... "Closer to what?" I asked. Closer to being disgustingly dirty and abnormal?!... hahaha.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Have you been a good friend today?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
A loyal friend laughs at your jokes when they're not so good, and sympathizes with your problems when they're not so bad.

1. That sucks. Well at least you were able to focus on the bright side.
2. With all the people who read your blog, im surprised people don't stop you in the street, much less take pictures of you in a rich guys office.
3.Ouch. Word 95? Dankook needs an upgrade.
4. This reminds me of the statistics that say when an accident happens, you want less people around, because a big crowd means no one will feel responsible and wont help.
5. Can he speak english now?
6. I love meeting at coffee shops, theyre always great hang out places. What kind of tea do you like?
7. I wonder how you got THAT nickname haha
8. I always give in. I hope once Im living alone and make my own decisions, i can start to not give in to the brownies my parents make, or the fat filled dinner they make.
9. Isnt that expensive? I still remember the last time you went to japan...that was in the winter too, wasnt it?
10. Speaking of pets, my mom got us a cat the other day...its been, interesting haha

Hey Bman,
I like your new way of commenting... makes it so much easier for me to follow your words and whatnot, thanks ;)

Here's my responses to your responses:
1. Ya, I figure he's already given me plenty so I shouldn't be greedy or become a spoiled brat over it.
2. Actually, I have been stopped by many people and it's always weird when I do get stopped... hahaha.
3. Hahaha.. no, Dankook has an updated version but when I save my file, in order for it to work, I have to save it in a different format. Word 95 was the most recent format it allowed me to do so.
4. ... very true!
5. Yes... he could before too but he went to Australia to study it more extensively.
6. I'm more of a coffee gal but am trying to totally eliminate it cause it has too much sugar. I'm a Red Rose kind of gal but here in Korea they don't sell it at coffee shops so I like the tropical passion or ginsing peppermint tea at Coffee Bean. I love Tom N Toms lemon tea, too.
7. hey, hey... my feet don't smell! "They smell like flowers" is what I always say, to which my friends respond with "ya, dead flowers!"... hahaha.
8. hahaha...
9. Ya, it's pretty expensive but it'll be worth it.
10. You got a cat... or a kitten? What's it's name? Hope it's being more of a pet than a pest!!!
