As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Saturday, March 7

1. I haven't had Korean language tutoring class for a couple of weeks now but today I had class at 10am and so I raced off to Seoul.

2. Humbly wore the half chewed ankle boots that Mi Nam had feasted on earlier and amused some random shoe seller with them. I figured I'd pick up new boots when I was out in Seoul at the underground subway shopping mall but I didn't figure it'd be so hard to walk in a half-eaten boot... hahaha. Got a huge discount on a new pair and despite me wishing it was because I sweet-talked the dude in Korean, I think he felt sorry for me and considered me some kind of poor girl... hahaha.

3. Korea's underground malls are not for the weak-hearted shopper who can't say no to wicked discounts and loads of "service" freebies. I tell ya, I went in for boots and almost came out with half a closet full of clothes.

4. They say with language, "if you don't use it you lose it", and so felt the case today at Korean tutoring. I had studied hard but I hadn't really studied the material in the textbook but instead had studied slang from various Korean pop songs, got sidetracked with my diary writing, and had focused on my own interests. Needless to say it was quite frustrating for me at class as I struggled to recall the chapter's vocabulary... I've never been a fan of vocab to start off with.

5. Came home to a nice little surprise, a love letter and a ring sitting on my table. It was from Q. The letter didn't ooze with romance and it wasn't very seductive but it was very sweet... very Q.

6. And no, I am not engaged. It wasn't an engagement ring sitting there, it was what Koreans call a "couple ring". He had given it to me for Christmas but I gave it back to him about a month ago.

7. Trained beside Black Skinny today and so that was a lot of fun. There's something about training beside him and Panty Boy Jr. that just feels so great and I know it goes beyond the fact that they're great guys.

8. With Q working till about midnight and the whole evening free to myself, I preoccupied myself with studying. Studying Korean on a Saturday night, nice. I went from sheik to geek upon moving to Korea, sweet :(

9. It's pretty brutal, I'll be the first to admit, when not only is the highlight of your Saturday night, a night I never stayed at home for in Canada I should note, is studying and grocery shopping. I even got dressed up for grocery shopping, too, well kind of... hahaha. Scored a big embarrassing applause by the cashier I always deal with. Usually Q and I drop by after boxing and so she sees us always in training gear and sweating, looking not-so-pretty, or presentable or that matter... hahaha.

10. Q showed up after midnight and full of energy so we jumped in the truck, picked up some movies, and then stayed up till about 4am.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What am I really doing with all my time?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
How long a minute is, depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on.
