As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, March 19

1. After experiencing one of those I-have-a-million-things-but-nothing-to-wear mornings I finally figured out what I wanted to wear, a brown mid-length skirt with a cute black collared top and a matching black mini suit jacket. Mi Nam was still sleeping up stairs and so I went to bring him down. He gave me his look of approval for my outfit and then I scooped him up in my arms.

2. Mi Nam peed on me!!! Oh my gosh!!! He’s never done this before and I have no idea what brought this about but as I pressed him against my chest and walked down the stairs with him I instantly felt my chest heat up. Turns out it was Mi Nam’s warm pee that had heated up my chest. I had pee on my entire outfit and a bit in my hair… nasty!!!

3. Talks of wanting to get a particular coworker canned are apparently more in the open now after another person supposedly had it out with her yesterday after work, yikes.

4. Still working out some glitches with the new office. My computer works but doesn’t print, the photocopier is on but always jams, and there’s coffee but am not too sure where the machine is.

5. Some of my students tried to pull a fast one in my last class. I knew something was up when a bunch of them insisted on sitting at the far back of the room. I took attendance and then after, when I was putting it away, I looked up and noticed that my class of 40 some went down to about 37. There was a festival concert happening on the school’s track and so some of them thought they’d score attendance points and then slip out. Unfortunately for them I have a pretty good photogenic memory and so my other students helped me name the “mysteriously-missing” students. “You can’t fool me” I told them. “I too was a university student and not so long ago either. You try your tricks but remember, my friends and I were the ones who invented them!”… hahaha.

6. After a long day of non-stop teaching for six hours, I then had to go off to boxing. Today I had promised to take Buff Boy the Original out for a birthday dinner and so I had a tight schedule. No time to kick off the heels and give my sore feet a rest. From work I went straight to boxing and then from boxing I went straight home to shower up and then head out again.

7. Dinner out with Buff Boy the Original was nice… really nice. He’s overly sarcastic, just like me, and we end up always talking about the most unusual things… most of which I really don’t want to share… hahahahahahaha. We’re quite the strange couple of friends, I must admit. Leave it to him and I to dare each other to eat kimchi with cake and talk about bodily fluids and other “nasties” while eating… hahaha.

8. We ate at Mainz. It’s one of my favourite places here in Cheonan but it kind of makes me sad when I come here because of the memories and other people I’ve come here with, people who are no longer in my life. My ex was the one who introduced me to this place. I use to come here a lot with Drama Boy and Buff Boy the Original but us all coming here together stopped when I then started to bring Pretty Boy here. Q and I sometimes come here but even Q knows about some of the other memories here and so Buff Boy the Original is the only one I can bring here and have it still feel as special as it use to.

9. A lot has happened in the three years that I’ve known Buff Boy the Original and his and mine friendship has definitely been tested but it’s a true friendship and that’s why even the whole Pretty Boy situation and him studying in Australia for a year didn’t break our friendship. Once he tried to end our friendship. It came about after the whole Drama Boy/Pretty Boy situation in which those two were at each other’s throats because of me. I’ll never forget the day I woke up to him texting me, telling me that he has decided to stand by Drama Boy’s side and so he can no longer be my friend. I was crushed and so for the couple of weeks or so I walked around feeling so heartbroken and so abandoned. Out of all the people I knew in Korea I never thought he’d be the one to give up on me. So, sitting with him tonight, looking at him from across the table felt so good. Despite my past mistakes and whatnot, I am so happy and relieved that Buff Boy the Original is still such a close friend.

10. I remember the first time I saw him, it was at Hongik where I weight-train. He was working as a personal trainer and he was definitely the hottest one there. He was the one to approach me. He spoke English to me and we’ve been great friends ever since. Tonight, after he walked me home, I texted him and made a promise to him to try to see him at least once every week. I have no excuse for not being the better friend he deserves.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Does time really change things or is it more so us changing them?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
The most I can do for my friend is simply be his friend.

Um, what? I remember when he ditched you with drama boy, and I don't recall YOU being the bad friend. I think you need to give yourself some more credit.
I know what you mean about the old places and memories thing. Sometimes I go to my old house to pack some stuff up, and if I go into my old room or old shower, I get a little depressed knowing the people I spent time with in them (haha the shower :P) but I have to realize nothing lasts forever, and it was fun while it lasted.

Yo Bman,
In all fairness, he kind of had good reason why to step away from me at that time considering, but none the less it really hurt.
Time with people in the shower?!.. what?... don't answer... lol.

I don't really remember it too well, and didn't really read as much as I do now. I dunno, I guess I hate seeing you short change yourself, although you do it less than most people.
