As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Love at First Sight... Wednesday, September 29

With the time ticking till Snickers’ send-off day to Japan, he and I have been searching the Internet and scoping out the streets of Cheonan looking for a bicycle for me. I’ll be fending for myself for three months – gosh, sounds like I’ll be out there in the wild with the wolves when I say it like that… hahaha. Anyways, we’ve been trying to find a way for me to easily get around Cheonan – to all my tutoring gigs, the grocery store, etc. We have both a car and a scooter but the car is like the Titanic on wheels when I’m in the driver’s seat and the same goes with our scooter.

Snickers wanted me to drive the scooter and I love our scooter but am just not comfortable driving it unless I have the security of Snickers being on the back, able to grab the handlebars when I am nervous on a turn or whatnot.

I argued, saying that I wanted a bicycle, but in our search for a bicycle I constantly was being drawn to the motorized bicycles. A bicycle was too boring but our scooter was too dangerous.

At 10pm Snickers was convinced he had found an answer, so he rushed outside to measure the inside of our car. Between him running in and out of the house, bringing in various things from the car and he making about half a dozen phone calls, I had no idea what was going on.

Then at 10:30pm Snickers told me to get in the car and off we drove.

Our destination, Bucheon, an hour and a half drive.
Our mission, get the scooter Snickers agreed to buy off the Internet.

Mission completed.

We arrived in Bucheon around 12:20am and met up with a young guy who had advertised his scooter on the net. With the winter season just months away, the prices in scooters are really dropping so it was the perfect time to buy one. This guy was eager to sell his and we convinced him to drop the price even lower. It was like highway robbery, too good to be true.

Only one problem – how to take it home.

After about an hour of taking it in and out of the car, rearranging the seats, and working up quite a sweat, we managed to get it in. The guy stuck around to help us which was really sweet of him to do so.

Arrived home around 2:30am and though I had originally been too tired to even head out to Bucheon, I arrived home super hyper. Said goodnight to my new baby – a 85kg 2008 Honda scooter that looks like quite a little gangster – and then spent the next thirty minutes searching the Web for a helmet. And yes, I did literally say goodnight to it... to him. My new baby is a boy and he's pretty cool, to say the least. Am definitely looking forward to taking him out for a spin tomorrow!!!

It was lights out for me at 3am.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
How cool is this?

Hi Fabi,
... very true but a "machine friend" wasn't exactly what I had in mind, none the less, he's pretty cool. I've already updated with today's entry so you'll be able to catch his official name... hope it's to your liking, hahaha. I think it's pretty fiting.
