Let’s start that again.
It was a drizzly day but that didn’t dampen our fun… sound better?!
I loaded up the car with snackies and coffee and then Snickers literally loaded up the car with me, tossing me over his shoulder and throwing me in the car like a sack of potatoes.
Destination: Daejon Beach.

On route to the beach we had a too close for comfort close call with another driver who had cut into our lane, causing us to go from about 100 to 60 in seconds or else. Unlike in Canada where people would cuss the other driver out or flip them the bird, here in Korea drivers tend to stare each other down and give what I like to call the “stare of death” to the other driver as they pass them by. Some drivers take it a step further and retaliate by cutting the other driver off, as a kind of revenge, or pulling them over to the side of the road – Snickers is guilty for that in worst case situations. Today was one of those worst case situations so when both Snickers and the other driver arrived at a red light out jumped Snickers from the car. Nothing beyond talking between the two happened though.
Turns out you can eat shark at Daejon, wild. Not too sure on how much a plate of that would go for but one restaurant had quite the pretty selection outside and I couldn’t resist taking a picture of them.
Basically all we did at the beach was sit on the beach like two beach bums with not a care in the world, minus the not a care in the world part that is. Snickers got word today that he’ll be leaving for Japan after Chuseok. Come the end of September I’ll be home alone and minus Snickers for about 3 months. It’s going to be a very quiet three months.
Side note here, Chuseok has been officially renamed to “Chu-SUCKS” in my books and I’m not looking forward to it now that I’m married and the pressure is on for me to fill the overpowering stereotypical female role as daughter-in-law (aka cooking slave). Hopefully K-Gere will rescue me like he did last time and have me chop wood with the boys.
But anyways…
A while back I tapped into a sneaky way of teaching Snickers English – using music. We do numerous day trips and driving around in our car so I thought popping in an English CD would stir his interest. Beyond the occasional backfire this has brought about, like him constantly quoting Mariah Carey (“Touch my body”) , it seems to have worked. I’ve got him hooked on a CD called “Rock’N’ Roll Love”. They’re oldie but goodie songs, very easy to follow and they consist of relatively simple story lines and sentences.
Now he can officially sing parts of the choruses to the following songs:
Poetry in Motion – by Johnny TillotsonJoking around in the car and acting like nothing short of singing diva resulting in me accidentally pouring coffee down the front of my shirt, hence the change in clothes you’ll notice in the pictures… hahaha.
Rhythm of the Rain – by The Cascades
Baby It’s You – by The Shirelles
The Shoop, Shoop Song (It’s in His Kiss) – by Betty Everett
He’s So Fine – by The Chiffons
Why Do Fools Fall in Love – by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Why do fools fall in love?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
If it is love, if it really is it's there in his kiss.
-- Betty Everett
