As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Stirring Up the House... Tuesday, September 21

Despite it being Chusok, today Motor Cross showed up nice and early at Ggum Guum to measure my walls and get the details for the worker he’d be sending to renovate. This past year, when winter was just turning over and spring was creeping in, some of the walls here in Ggum Guum began to look like they were literally sweating. The sweat was then replaced by ugly loud water marks and what looked like to be some kind of fungus. Both Snickers and I tried to solve the obvious moisture problem but despite the water leaving we still had nasty water marks starring at us.

My father and I have had several conversations about this problem and he urged me to seriously consider changing houses. I remember last spring when I thought it was the annual yellow sand that was making me sick. Turns out it was my house. I didn't want to move though. I love Ggum Guum. It's located just a hop, skip and a jump away from downtown but it's nicely tucked away from the downtown traffic and happily sits beside a river and a park.

Originally I had wanted them to rip out the drywall, replace it and then re-wallpaper it but it didn’t go down like that today. Nonetheless, despite no walls getting ripped down, the walls did get treated and then re-wallpapered. Motor Cross’ father owns the company that dealt with our walls so we got a massive deal with the pricing and in return Motor Cross scored some Canadian chocolate bars I had been saving.

Snickers and I both sat around, chatting with Motor Cross while the worker did the much needed renovations. After the renovations were done, Snickers and I then scrambled around to set up our clothes closet we had purchased a while back. By the time we were done it was creeping up to 3pm. It had been a busy day. I had no tutoring today but still got up at 4am for HIIT running. I had merely taken a brief nap but then was up early again to go walk Mi Nam, clean the house and do laundry before Motor Cross was to show up.

At 3pm we headed out the door. Destination: Granny Kim's house for Chusok.
