As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Good Boys and Bad Boys, and The Women Who Love Them... Thursday, November 18

Today marks my one month countdown to my next fight so I celebrated by calling off my morning tutoring and allowed myself to sleep in… slept for a total of 14 hours.

FOURTEEN HOURS… that’s like 3 nights’ worth of sleep to me.

Sounds nice too right? Well it wasn’t so nice considering oversleeping meant I struggled to overcome my overdose of sleep by walking around bug-eyed, dazed and somewhat confused for the rest of the day, or at least what was left of it.

Met up with Cheeto Girl. I tell ya, the more and more I hang out with this Korean cutie the more and more I like her. She’s just so much fun. We didn’t really have any set plan on what to do together but when I met her at our appointed time, I turned to find a sad looking Cheeto Girl. Turns out the somewhat expected but definitely not desired has happened. She and Mouse Doctor have broken up. In addition to Mouse Doctor's already questionable behaviour, the short of the long story is three days ago he lied to her. He had told her that he was at work when in reality he was dressed to the nines, sitting very cozy, and sharing a box of popcorn and a soda with some no-name girl at the movies. One of Cheeto Girl’s friends saw it all go down and had texted her the news.

I like both Cheeto Girl and Mouse Doctor but I know them as friends and I’ve never really questioned their “couple hood”. Today it all came out though. Cheeto spilled her beans to me while we walked around downtown and I felt so bad for her. I tried to joke about it, asking her if she wanted me to go punch Mouse Doctor. “We’re friends” I told her, “so my professional services are free for you.” She appreciated the joke but I could tell she was having a hard time so on that note I decided to try harder to cheer her up.

Off to my house we headed and together we rode off on Gotti. I thought she’d be scared on the back of Gotti but she laughed the whole ride to Lotte Mart. I had told her before that random people try to talk to me when I’m on Gotti but today she got to experience firsthand just how true my statement was. Counted three people try to talk to us on our 8 minute ride… hahaha.

At Lotte Mart we did some grocery shopping and stocked up on gifts for an advent calendar I’m making for the twins. If you don’t know what an advent calendar is let me tell you. It originated in Germany and it’s a one month countdown calendar to Christmas so every day in December is marked with some kind of surprise. Originally it was poems and pictures but it’s evolved and now there are advent chocolate calendars. My mom use to make an advent calendar for my two brothers and I and every day in December was marked with a small wrapped gift. Gifts ranged from candy to Christmas tree ornaments and small trinkets. Now that I've got family in this country (thanks to Snickers) I've decided to be a pro-active aunt and this year I've decided to start the tradition of the advent calendar with my two nephews. The twins are going to go crazy when they see what I'm working on for them. It's going to be awesome to see their reaction.

Today Cheeto Girl and I loaded up on advent gifts at Lotte Mart. Ran into one minor problem though, how to get our bags of groceries and gifts back to Ggum Guum. Surprisingly enough, we were able to load up Gotti with all the bags and safely drive home.

For the next hour or so Cheeto Girl and I sat in my kitchen wrapping advent calendar gifts and chatting. Ended up cooking some mean pasta for her and then she stuck around till I had to go to boxing. Her breakup was the main topic of discussion for today. “Don’t push anything, wait for love. It’ll find you” was the best advice I could give her after she let it known to me that she so desperately wants what Snickers and I have. “You two are the perfect couple” she said. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that but ya, he and I are pretty awesome together.

When she blurted out “I envy you two”, I couldn’t help but think “ya, if I wasn’t me I’d envy what I have, too.”
