As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Pick a Name... Tuesday, June 28

In Korea I usually get away with just using my first name for things. For example, my housing contract and boxing license are registered with just "Amy". Using "Amy Kim" often gets me labeled as a Korean girl or a Korean-Canadian so instead of having to explain or risk missing out on part time gigs or whatnot, I often hypenate my last name. Many of my Korean friends address me by my Korean name, Jo Su Hyun, but I've taken a kind of fusion spin on it by changing my Korean last name "Jo" to that of my husband's, "Kim". Korean women don't actually change their last name though, but then again I'm not a Korean woman.

The names I go by here in Korea
1. Amy
2. Amy Teacher
3. Amy Sun-su ("Professional althele Amy")
4. Amy Bere....ski
5. Amy Bere...ski-Kim
6. Amy Kim
7. Jo Su Hyun
8. Kim Su Hyun

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What do you go by?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Call me whatever you want but don't call me stupid.
-- a high school friend of mine
