My days are quite active ones but after
work there’s really nothing to do.
Coworkers head home while others hid away
in their dorm rooms, leaving me going stir crazy and itching to do something. My energy levels confuse them all. I asked them if anyone wanted to go late
night mountain hiking but had no takers.
I will get them hiking though, I’m on a mission. This weekend I get to go home so I’m going to
bring back with me my headlamps and am going to get them hiking up the mountain
with me. But that’s next week, tonight I
wanted to go hiking.
Ended up hiking up the mountain by myself –
I don’t necessarily recommend it.
Ended up turning my hike into a run up the
mountain – I certainly don’t recommend this.
I don’t really like hiking actually. The thought of walking seems rather boring to
me. I like a challenge, so I decided to
run up the mountain tonight instead of simply walking it. Only one problem, I couldn’t see.
Ok, so I suppose I should add here that I
was a total virgin to the path. I guess
that means I had two problems actually.
“No need to panic”, I told myself, “what’s
really the worst that could happen?!”, and with that I continued running up the
mountain. It was only by the feel of the
snow under my runners that I knew I was even on the path. Whenever I felt my feet kicking up powdery
snow, and there were many occurrences of this, I knew I had ventured off the
path.
What’s the worst that could happen?!...
perhaps the worst that could happen is that I think too much about this question
and end up spooking myself. That’s
pretty much what happened actually, well that and I started feeling
snow-blind. I couldn’t see anything but
the white ground and then everything else was black.
After about a 40min run up the mountain, I
decided to come down but I did so on a bag.
I had a bag in my training pants pocket so I sat down on it and rode it
down like it was a sled – I definitely recommend this though not necessarily
doing it at night.
