As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

My Last Day at Age 33 Ended on a Sweet Note... Tuesday, August 5

The cutest thing happened tonight so I just thought I'd share it with you here.

These days most of our members train early, meaning our club is packed at 3pm so the first crossfit class that I too participate in is busting at the seems.  It also means that with members training earlier we've been ending a bit earlier too.  We still stay open but the rule of thumb is if members are done training and no one comes before 11:15pm than we close the club early.  Tonight we closed earlier than early and by 11pm I had showered and was now sitting across the table from our club's main sponsor, WOW.

By the time we had finished our meal and talked about what we had met up to discuss, it was almost midnight.  The four of us returned to Hulk's and then the three of them dilly-dallied outside of the club until suddenly WOW blurted out "happy birthday".  Sure enough it was midnight and it was now my birthday.   They had staled me so they could celebrate it.  So they sang happy birthday to me as I stood on the steps of Hulk's and it was just so sweet.

I've always been about the "golden hour" -- midnight -- when the day turns into the next.  And I've always stressed to Snickers that it's important who you spend the last moments before and after the golden hour with.  Tonight my husband, my club's main sponsor, and one of our long time members had gone out of their way to make sure there were with me for this golden hour, both before and after.

With the coming of the golden hour, three men sang to me, and friends started texting my phone like crazy. Text messages, Facebook inbox messages, Kakao Story texts, and emails left my phone bouncing across my bedroom shelf and I fell asleep to it.
