As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Seriously, This is What I Get Paid to Do?!

Sometimes I just have to laugh at the fact that this is seriously my job...
...and these are my coworkers.
They are officially the Hulk's Boxing security/crowd pleaser/four-legged workout buddies.

Pacquiao is all bark and no bite but trust me when I say his barking scares anyone from trying to sneak in the side entrance, including any street cats.  As for Pyen Chi, she's more or less a crowd pleaser and distraction for those working out and whom she is familiar with.  And Balboa, well he's a favourite with many of our mini Hulkies who play fetch with him and like to run around chasing him.

Tonight part of my job included putting 8 Hulkies through a gruelling Crossfit Challenger class -- picking out the weights for them, yelling at them to push harder, and then cracking jokes just right when I think one or more is going to give up.
They always complain that I'm so hard on them but they always come back and I'm glad too because without them, well, my job clearly wouldn't be as butt-kicking cool as it is.
...and then my two mini assistants/mini Hulkies arrive.
On Friday night we don't train, we play, or at least that what I lead them to believe.

We play a ton of games together on Fridays so while Fridays are technically my "relaxing" day at the club, it's far from that when any of my mini Hulkies arrive.
As for the above three pictures, we were playing a chicken fight game on the stability balls and I went flying.  Never mind hitting my head on the floor, my mini Hulkies loved the game and had a blast.  Way to take one for the team.
This game... it was a ball race.  You simply had to get from one end to the other first.  Funny that I used that word "simply".  Try it and you'll see it's not so simply.  My tummy still hurts from excessive giggling and holy leg cramp from squeezing the heck out of that ball.
But this is my job and tonight this was my Friday night.
This is my kind of people -- the hard training kind.
This is my kind of bar -- our juice bar.
And this is my kind of drink -- soy milk.
