As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

We're Serious about Our Laundry... Thursday, September 25

It's no surprise that with juggling all my training and managing a club that we have a lot of laundry to do on a daily bases.  We used to throw both our training/work clothes in with the club member towels but the mix of dark and light means my training leggings have rollie-pollie balls on the seems.  Doing two loads of laundry a night is quite excessive so now we only do one load a night.  What ever the second load is, whether it's the towels or our training/work clothes, gets put into the machine and soaked till the next day.  It'll be tomorrow's laundry load.  Snickers goes through an average of 3 outfits a day but I go through 4-5 because of my split training.  Consequently, we go through a lot of clothes.

For my training clothes alone, I've got one full closet, a large drawer and two shelves designated just for them.  That's not to say I wear it all though because I do have my favourite tank tops that I love wearing for coaching/working but I go through leggings like there's no tomorrow. Old leggings or ones that are beat up and not really presentable get used for my boxing and weight training, like the yellow leggings in the above picture.  I want to know who ever thought it a smart idea to make light colour leggings, like seriously.  My excuse for having them is one of my sponsors gave them to me but come on, I can't sit down ever without them picking up any remotely small piece of dirt and then it being amplified on the lightness of the colour.

With all the training clothes I have, it was definitely smart of both Adidas and me to be interested in each other.  I proudly sport, use and happy abuse all the goodies my sponsor has given me and, due to all the extra things I've purchased myself or my other sponsor has for me, we surely keep their stores in business not to mention I've "converted" others to only wear Adidas.  If I were to have to put a dollar figure on how much Adidas gear, from handwraps and boxing boots to sports bras and tank tops, I wear in just one day, it'd be over $2,000.  But Adidas has been continually so supportive of me and my boxing so that helps so much with keeping me clothed.  My boxing boots alone sport a retail value of $500 on Gmarket here in Korea but Adidas Hong Kong and Adidas Korea collaborated to search out a pair for me and sent them to me for free from Adidas Germany.   I freakin' love Adidas and all the people that make it.  It will forever be my only brand of choice!!!

But enough about that, I'm not here to advertise for Adidas though props to you if you love it too.  Instead, I'm here to talk about how much laundry I go through.  Today I thought it interesting to take a picture of all the clothes I wore, all my different outfits.  So that's exactly what I did.  Below, you'll find a list of all my outfits for the day.

...FOR THE GRAND TOTAL OF...
1 baseball cap
4 pairs of hand accessories (handwraps, boxing gloves, weight training gloves, and 1 wrist band)
4 sports bras
9  tops
5  pairs of leggings/pants
4  pairs of socks
6  pairs of footwear (runners, boxing boots, sandals)

...now can you see just how much laundry I go through?!  For sure.  Of course not all outfits or items of clothing need washing after only the day's worth of wearing but surely outfits one, two and three are one-time-only outfits because I train like an animal and consequently sweat like a beast even when it's just coaching that I'm doing.  I still get down on the floor and show all the exercises with each Crossfit class I do.
