As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Beware of Users... Tuesday, December 10

Not everyone wants to help you.  Some just want to hitch a ride after you hustle and ride your success.

I experienced this realization two times just this week and it was so incredibly frustrating.

At first, it was a company who asked to collab with me for the HUGE Lil' Sistas Christmas, for one party in particular.  After they've watched me plan and blast it out on social media for the past two months, they then had the nerve to ask me if they could "collab" and come along.

"Come along" is right but "collab", collab on what?!  It was me who gathered the volunteers, collected the donations, approached various companies about the Wish List items, and it was me who put the entire thing together.  So to collab, there's nothing to collab on but there's everything for them to score on when they post pictures of the party and take credit for all the work I've done with those who actually helped out as oppose to what they're doing (or should I say no doing).

And don't even ask me about the second use and abuse of my hustle.  That's super fresh.

I came home feeling totally played.  I was told this person wanted to help me but they didn't.  They just wanted to use my contacts for their benefit.

I feel the more and more I help people, the more and more I see people who really don't deserve my help and I realize just how little people are actually willing to help out -- help themselves and help others.  They just want the credit for help they haven't given.

Honestly, I have a new found respect for the nuns at Holy Family Home who are really trying to get help for those 26 they house.  If me planning the HUGE Lil' Sistas Christmas is just one event, a fundraiser for 2 residences, 2 parties, and it's causing me this much stress and frustration, than I can't imagine what they experience on the daily.

Helping people is one of the hardest and most discouraging but also the most encouraging things to do.  It'll send your faith in humanity on a roller coaster that will either be up or down, never level.
