As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Give a Little... Wednesday, December 11

Every one wants to help and every one will cheer and give you praise, but when you call them out and ask them to help, ask them to give something, anything, more to cheer about, they scatter.

People scatter like cockroaches.

They just look at you and smile.

And while I know times are tough for some, for many actually, I also know that if people just gave a little it'd add up to a lot.  My goal for 2020 is to say "yes" to everyone who asks me for something.  Whether I give them some loose change or my entire pocket full of cash, it's irrelevant.  My plan is to always try to pay it forward and give when asked.

If you have the opportunity to help someone, do it.  You may be the blessing they prayed for.  That right there, that line, when I first heard that it really hit a cord in me.  It stuck. I know when I was stuck and needing help, I was too proud to ask for help.  So whenever I hear someone ask me for help, it means something to me.

It means something to me when people help with the Lil' Sistas.  It means more to me than they will ever know.  But planning the HUGE Lil' Sistas Christmas has been very challenging and I can't imagine having to do something like this on the daily -- raise funds and collect donations.  So the fact that the nuns at Holy Family Home have to constantly do this, ask for donations to fund and run the home, wow.  I wouldn't want that job.  It takes a lot to have to ask people but I find it takes even more not to react to those who should, would and could help but don't.

It's incredibly discouraging.
