1. Apparently there’s some mystery rule at my school and it goes along the lines of something like, “don’t fill Amy in on what’s going on”. I’m convinced of this. Not only was my first class cut in half (time wise) but my next class consisted of grade 4s, 5s, and 6 graders. I don’t even teach grade 4!
2. When I questioned the teacher what’s going on, she got all flustered and handed me a pile of Harry Potter movies…. Scrapped the movie idea and played a massively long game of soccer! Awesome.
3. Came back to Eumbong Middle School and literally past out in my chair.
4. Discovered a perfect way to cap off my work week… fishing with two of my ultimate favorite guys… Byung Hyuk and Kim Tae. They bought me a fishing pole and taught me how to fish, Korean-style! Ha, ha, ha! They tried to show me how to cast out the line and on my second attempt, I ended up hooking a HUGE live one… myself!!! My fingers actually and dang did it ever sting! Wow!
5. Of course none of us thought to bring a flashlight for our late-night fishing excursion and so we stumbled around using our cellphones... definitely added to the amusement of the evening!
6. Fishing rule was you had to kiss the fish if you caught one. Byung Hyuk didn’t catch one but he kissed my fish anyways, for good luck I suppose. Pucker up baby! Ha, ha, ha.
7. Well it was a toss up with which smelt worse, the bait or Princess Smelly Feet’s (me) feet…. Ha, ha, ha! I personally couldn’t smell the bait and I think my terrible sense of smell, and lack there of it, kind of freaked them out. Oh my gosh… I am my father! He can’t smell skunks, I can’t smell things too!
8. Between giggling, eating rommian (noodles), playing with the bait, and making fun of each other, we did actually do some fishing…. “some” being the key word here.
9. Fish caught were ranked according to size, so, a big fish could score you more points than catching many fish. The winner for the best fisherman went to Kim Tae (7pts = 2 small fish), 2nd place went to me (4pts = 1 fish) and Byung Hyuk scored no points.
10. We ended up freezing our butts off but that was part of the fun! Award for the cutest fisherman definitely went to Byung Hyuk for wearing my super small sweater and then going home in it….ha, ha, ha. I’m sure he definitely got some funny looks!
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Who's smelly?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
I have a clean body.
-- Kim Tae
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
