As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Saturday, November 4

1. Saturday morning shopping, I love it! Picked up some totally Korean knee socks, a posh pair of heels, and a dress shirt. Turns out the one girl at Valley Girl (where I always shop) isn’t so cool after all and apparently thought I was a Russian prostitute!!! Jokes on her though, as she punked me off to the other girl (who I should mention, corrected her and told her I was a teacher) I turned around and told her in Korean “Hey! Be careful. I understand Korean.” Well, that was definitely enough to make her jaw drop and so she was very quick to apologize. I don’t like 바보s...ㅋㅋㅋ.
1. Ventured out to Seoul but was hesitant to go after getting stuck in Seoul last Saturday. But, I had promised Wonder Woman (Joyce) that I’d come out to her company’s opening party. She’s the recruiter who scored me my awesome middle school job and so I’m ever so grateful for meeting her. She’s a total sweetie!
2. Bared the Seoul subway system on my own for the first time and was quite impressed at how easy it actually was.
3. Showed up at Wonder Woman’s place and she was super excited to see me! Wow… she wouldn’t stop hugging me!!! I got a good laugh at how she wanted to introduce me to everyone. I felt like a total celebrity cause apparently they’ve all heard so much about me. Hmmm…
4. Wonder Woman and me haven’t seen each other since our trip to Thailand in March and since then she’s undergone lippo suction surgery. She looked so different! Personally, I don’t agree with surgery as oppose to dieting and exercising, but I am happy that she now feels confident and beautiful.
5. Had fun talking with Wonder Woman but her party was a bit too much for me. I definitely didn’t fit in and there were way too many foreigners there for my liking so I jetted after a bit. I can’t believe I endured Pasty-White-Skin Boy who talked to me for almost an hour about toe socks... and he wonders why he’s not a big hit with the ladies… oh my gosh!!!
6. Well he’s here… my friend Bill from Indiana has arrived in Korea! He flew in on Tuesday and so I met up with him in Myeong-Dong for coffee and lots of chatting. He amused me with his various traveling stories. I’ve never really traveled and so I love hearing about different cultures and traveling bloppers. Good stuff.
7. Stole an extra hug from the Korean cutie who was walking around Myeong-Dong with a “free hugs” sign. I see these guys here all the time but am still clueless as to why they’re giving free hugs to random strangers. Nonetheless, I jumped in and scored some hugs… ㅋㅋㅋ. He was a bit too eager to hug me though...ㅋㅋㅋ.
8. Introduced Bill to the world of Korean street snacks! I love those brown sugar filled, deep fried pastries! I know they’re totally not healthy but I treat myself to one every time I come to Myeong-Dong. It’s my own little tradition I’ve started... ㅋㅋㅋ.
9. With only about an hour left to catch the last train back to Cheonan, I decided to meet up with yet another person, Michael. Wow... figured out who he reminds me of; he’s totally a spinning image of my former hagwan director, Mr. Lee... ㅋㅋㅋ
10. Got stuck sitting on the floor of the train because there were no more seats. However, I definitely wasn’t about to complain. It sure beat roaming the streets of Seoul like last week and I was greatly amused by the guy who joined me on the floor and passed out on my shoulder. Thankfully there was no shoulder drool...ㅋㅋㅋ.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
You realize you lost me after the first minute of this conversation right?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
You possess a mind not merely twisted, but actually sprained.

You got a free hug! The guy who started this trend or fad or whatever it is is Australian and it started there (in Australia). He was on Oprah last week. Sounds like it's really catching on; that's so cool that they're doing it in Korea now too!
