As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

HIghlights of my Day... Thursday, December 14

1. Started my day anticipating 5 full classes at my middle school. Well, one class got cancelled because of final exams, another class was cancelled because Mr. PE Teacher wanted to play soccer with them and then a third class was cancelled cause the school let the students go home early. Sounds great but it made for a very long boring day.
2. As I sat in the teachers’ room sipping on my morning coffee, I could help but overhear loud noises coming from the room above me… the English room. When the bell rang and class started, I walked into my classroom only to discover that the students had rearranged the whole room as a joke.
3. The guilty party of students were all sitting in a circle in the middle of the room. They literally begged me to let the play that silly Mofia game again. Of course I’m a sucker for these cute Koreans and so I let them.
4. The second class I had today (last period) were all passing out. They had just spent four straight hours, four days in a row, writing final tests. So, we popped in a movie and sat back and relaxed together.
5. Not such a smart choice with the movie… yikes! I had allowed them to watch “White Chicks” and well, it’s got some sexy skin scenes but I found it amusing to see all the students turn their heads away during the kissing scenes. Ohhh… a kiss, so rebellious! ㅋㅋㅋ. Kissing in public here in Korea is not really a socially accepted thing and so I totally understand their reaction but it was still so cute…ㅋㅋㅋ.
6. By 4:30pm I was so desperately eager to go home. I only had 2 classes and so that meant I had to kill 7 hours in the staff room… ouch!
7. At my elementary schools I organized a “Secret Santa” gift-giving activity for their Christmas party and so tonight I went out in search of the perfect Secret Santa gift. While out shopping, I ran into a former elementary student of mine, Jimmy, from my old hagwan. Chatted it up a bit with his mom. She said she was so happy to see that I am still in Korea, that makes two of us sweetie.
8. Spent a good part of my evening wrapping prizes for tomorrow’s Christmas party games. One of the games is called “Musical Surprise”. The students have to pass a present around the circle but when the music stops, they get to unwrap one layer of the present. Little do they know, I wrapped each gift at least 6 times…ㅋㅋㅋ.
9. A few months ago I bought the classic board-game called “The Game of Life”. Well, after months of the game collecting dust in my closet, I finally convinced Ryan to play it with me.
10. Thankfully it’s only a game… I ended up being some entertainer with a low, low salary, I got married and I had a small house that barely was suitable for my four children, all of which were boys!
