As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Wednesday, December 6

1. Found out today it was elementary student Tom’s birthday. He’s super shy but has such a great sense of humour. So, for his birthday, I made him stand in front of the class on his chair. The whole class sung “Happy Birthday” while me and 5 students danced around his chair. He totally loved it and the class couldn’t stop laughing…ㅋㅋㅋ.
2. In my elementary classes I have the kids sit in team groups. I award team stars according to participating and whatnot. Well, today in my grade 5 class, the Crazy Mandu Kings won the choco pies by a landslide because of Luke Skywalker. He doesn’t speak more than a handful of English words but for “Show & Tell” today he sung “You are my Sunshine”. We were all in shocked and definitely impressed!
3. Returned to my middle school and there on my desk sat the super important “Asan Foreign Teacher Contract Renewal” application… ohhh. …. ahhhh! I was all smiles.
4. No sooner did I sit down to fill out my contract renewal form, but then a pop-up came on my computer… “You’ve got mail”. It was an email from notifying me a local Cheonan university is looking for 3 foreigner teachers and I fit the criteria. Oh gosh… just when I thought I knew what my plans were. Hmmm.
5. Made a list of the pros and cons of the university position vs. Asan Education. And, well, considering my Asan contract renewal isn’t a definite yet and I’m not too sure if they’ll assign me to the same school next year, I decided to apply.
6. Finally went out for dinner with some of my co-workers as we had originally planned to do last week. We stopped by a local restaurant (if I’d even call it that… it was a little trailer on the side of the road out here in the sticks of Asan). It may have been total ghetto but it was the best mandu I’ve ever had!
7. Ryan finally returned to Cheonan and after several painful attempts to sit down and talk, I finally wrote “the list”.
8. Since my move into the new loft, we’ve acquired a lot of furniture together and we have legal things together (ie. housing contract is in his name, so is my cell phone, internet, etc.). We didn’t know how to divide things up and so I wrote a list. This is the closest I ever hope to experiencing a real divorce. Divorce is the one human tragedy that reduces everything to cash and this is what this turned into tonight... a matter of cash.
9. I cried.
10. Was in bed by 8pm.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Who asked you?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
A divorce is like an amputation; you survive, but there's less of you.
