As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Friday, January 5

1. Today my winter supplementary class had a test. I had given them a list of new vocabulary that they were to study. It wasn’t a spelling test, instead, it was comprehension test. Oddly enough, the class really had fun doing the test and taking up the answers was so hilarious.
2. One of the questions asked them to name four different countries. Patrick was stuck on a fourth country and so I hinted to him, “Where I am from?” He then wrote “Togo”… oh my gosh! Sorry but I’m probably one of the whitest chicks I’ve ever seen and people from Togo are not exactly white. Turns out he wasn’t really listening to my hint and instead remembered that Korea played Togo in the World Cup. We all had a good laugh though.
3. Am seriously curious about why there’s no stoplight at the end of the school’s driveway. Today I ended the class early and so we had plenty of time to make it to the bus, or so we thought. We saw the bus coming but the cars were whipping by us and so we couldn’t cross the road.
4. I’m sure I annoyed the bus driver but humoured everyone on the bus and my students as I stood there itching to cross the road and yelling out for the driver to wait for us. Finally, just as the driver was about to give up on us, I stuck my leg straight out and right in front of traffic. I closed my eyes and hoped the next car wouldn’t hit me. It worked. So scary though!
5. Picture time! In the afternoon I hung around the house with Mi-Nam and took way too many pictures of the little guy. I’m a proud mommy..ㅋㅋㅋ
6. Ryan strolled into Cheonan today to get his scooter. He called me up and we went for lunch. It was nice and we had a good time but I couldn’t help but feel so strange trying to be all buddy-buddy with him after I had just been his girlfriend for over a year. I've never loved anyone like him and when I think about my past relationships, I now see that he was the only one I truely loved.
7. Ackward good-bye. I don’t know if he felt it but I did. I had almost forgotten how handsome he was. Anyway, he’s gone and as odd as it was to try to be buddy-buddy with him, it felt great to see him again.
8. Today Kim Tae and I took Mi-Nam to the pet store for his one week check-up. As soon as I walked into the store Mi-Nam’s mother and little sister came running up to us. I knelt down for them to see each other but it really scared me how rough his mother was with him. I didn’t want to intercept though cause I seriously thought she’d chew my head off!!!
9. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo embarrassing! I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry Kim Tae!!!!!! As we headed back to my home, I felt something warm on my leg and then I smelt something. Turns out the medicine the man gave Mi-Nam didn’t exactly agree with his stomach so out came EVERYTHING he had eaten… like for the past week, or so it looked like! It was so nasty! I felt so bad. Mi-Nam’s puke was all over Kim Tae’s car.
10. Turns out Kim Tae is more of a gentleman than I ever gave him credit for because as I stood there totally red in the face and saying “I’m sorry” over a million times, he turned to me and told me, “It’s ok. Don’t worry. It’s cold outside, please, go home. It’s ok.”

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What do you want from Canada?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
