As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Monday, January 8

1. Woke up, spruced myself up all pretty and then cruised into my old hagwan for my meeting with my former boss. He tried to persuade me to come work for him again but personally, his work package can’t even compete with Dankook University! The only thing that he’s got over Dankook is my kindergarten students. I loved those kids so much!
2. Was bombarded by my old Wisdom class students who were all so eager to tell me stories and ask me questions. I told them that I came by a special plane just to see them. Of course little Jack didn’t believe that though. It felt so incredibly amazing to see them and so I cried a little; tears of happiness. They’re so beautiful to me, especially Kevin.
3. The school had changed a lot in a year and so it was flooded with new students, new teachers and changes in the actual layout. But some of my favourites were still there: Jenny teacher (Korean teacher) Kris (secretary), Steve (boss’s sidekick) and Ellie (boss’s wife). They all greeted me with hugs. If only they knew how much they really helped me while I taught there. They were my breath of fresh air.
4. After leaving my old school, I went for a mini tour of my old area and was quite sad at what I discovered. My old Kimbab Nala were I ate countless meals with Mook, and Young Un, was gone. The Toast Club was no longer being run by that sweet lady and her three children. Guy Smiley no longer worked at my corner GS Store, and there were all new faces at my old gym. It’s like everyone moved on out. It was quite depressing but as I went to jump into a taxi, the Alpha Store man ran out to greet me. Finally a familiar face.
5. Young Chan called me again today, from Florida. Apparently his golfing tour is boring him to death, well, I could have foreseen that… it is golf that he plays…ㅋㅋㅋ. He offered to fly me down to Florida and, had he been anyone but Young Chan, I would have jumped at the opportunity.
6. Had time to waste before my doctor’s appointment and so I called up with Byung Hyuk and met up with him at the donut store. He brought along his super cute, very pretty, ultra animated girlfriend, Jin-Young. I’ve only met her once before but I’m really starting to like her and it’s obvious she loves Byung Hyuk so much. That’s awesome!
7. Got convinced to go snowboarding next week. The selling point was when the others (Jin-Young, Kim Tae and Byung Hyuk) all agreed to rent their clothes too so that I wouldn’t be the only one wear the hideous nasty rentals….ㅋㅋㅋ. This should be interesting.
8. Ahhh…. I couldn’t handle another day of itchy legs and so today Kim Tae took me to a skin specialists where the nurses bombarded me with flattery and the doctor reassured me it wasn’t something serious. He thinks I had an allergic reaction and so he sent me home with ointment and pills.
9. Kim Tae is an awesome person… not only does he clean up after my dog and offer me countless back messages, but tonight he rubbed my nasty looking, allergic legs with ointment and was totally cool about it. That’s love!
10. Mi-nam has officially claimed my super comfortable, sleek pillows as his new bed. White dog, black pillow… not exactly a great combo.
