1. Started cleaning out my desk at Eumbong Middle School. It was quite depressing actually and I couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable knowing that someone else will be sitting in my desk next year, talking to my students, laughing with my co-workers, and sharing jokes with everyone. I already miss you Eumbong and I haven’t even left yet!
2. What’s up with the class schedule? Am definitely not impressed, and nor are my students, with the fact that today’s classes were scheduled to finish 5 minutes before the bus arrives; that’s not enough time to run down the super long school driveway! Did they forget to note that the bus only comes once an hour?!
3. Took a class vote and so the students agreed to work through their break time so that we can leave a little early and thus catch the bus. We thought it was a great idea until we realized that some other staff members were too impressed when they saw us running across the soccer field. Relax!
4. Sat on the bus with one of my super cool students, Robert. He’s in level 2. He’s one of my “fan members” at school… you know, those students who go out of their way to talk to me, visit me in-between classes, and sneak me the occasional candy… ya, I love those kids! Today I had bought some of my students English notebooks; I had one left over. I gave it too Robert. It was just a simple notebook but his whole face lit up with a massive smile. It was such a warm-fuzzy feeling moment. Awesome.
5. It’s official… Mi-Nam loves me unconditionally! Anyone that is happily willing to kiss my feet obviously loves me so much… and is need of some mouth wash too… just joking. Actually, my feet are quite cute and I think they smell nice, like a flower. I am no longer Princess Smelly-Feet.
6. Kicked my own butt at training and am sure to not be able use my arms tomorrow after the tricep workout I went hardcore with.
7. Joined up with Colin for some good eats at Mainz Restaurant. We sat, chatted, giggled, and shared some awesome food. You know you’re a regular when the manager stops by and joins you at your table… I love this place!
8. After months and months of writing my novel, a kind of autobiography actually, based mainly on my last relationship, I threw it out. Actually that’s not correct… I ripped out all the pages, shredded them as best as I could and then tossed them out in the trash along with Mi-Nam’s pee papers. My novel was kind of like a self-help I had prescribed myself and well, I can’t bear re-reading what I wrote nor am I comfortable with the idea that the book may fall into the wrong hands and hurt someone or cause further issues. So, it’s gone. It’s over. This is a new year…. I’m a new me. It’s time to move on and continue to grow.
9. Quite possibly made a fool of myself on the webcam while talking to Kim Tae. I humoured him with my funny faces but, as he claimed, he wasn’t the only one watching me. Rumour has it, his mom saw me! Oh my gosh! ㅋㅋㅋ
10. Gave Kim Tae a rough educational lesson on teasing. He always calls me a pig and ugly. I figured, if he could dish it out than he must be able to take it. I called him skinny legs. Well, the joking continued, it went too far and 30 minutes later he arrived and apologized.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Isn't this the year of the pig?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working twenty-four hours a day, for good or bad. It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force.
-- Tom Blandi
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
