As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, January 18

1. Well I did it… boredom with my hair set in again and so I changed my hair yet again. I’m sure my mom is convinced I change my hair more than I change my clothes…ha, ha, ha. Today I thought I’d change it up for my upcoming trip to Canada.
2. Yup, I did it… I cut my hair shorter. Updated my shag hair style with more layers, coloured it a deep chocolate brown and then added some spicy mahogany highlights around my face area. Very trendy!
3. She-Ann (my friend/hair stylist) was rather nervous doing my hair. She kept on giving me that, “are you ok… do you like your hair?” look but I’m cool… it’s just hair. “Trust me She-Ann”, I told her, “In a month I’ll probably change it again… and if all else fails, I look cute in hats…ㅋㅋㅋ”
4. Hey Jenn… as for that note I posted for Kim Tae last night, well, because of it we didn’t speak all day. I think we were both upset and unsure of what to say.
5. BUT… Kim Tae showed up at my house around 3pm with sushi, and not just any sushi, my favourite sushi from my favourite sushi restaurant! We agreed to try harder to understand each other’s culture and so he asked me to start teaching him about Canadian history and culture… cool! Leave it to Kim Tae to totally patch things up perfectly!
6. Spent a good part of my day planning my trip to Canada. I’ll be staying at my parents’ house for the first and last couple of days of my trip but for the most part, I’ll be staying at my old house in Toronto. My former roommate still lives there but it’s going to kind of weird being a guest in what was once my house!
7. So far, my itinerary for my trip consists of the following:

  • a girls’ night out
a birthday celebration for my father
a surprise party (well, not such a surprise party now)
    a trip to Casino Niagara
a visit to my old high school
training at my old gym, System Fitness
a second try at celebrating Christmas, so that means we’ll have a big Berezowski feast
a 911 Wednesday night at Crocodile Rock
a typical Friday club night out
    a sparring match (boxing…starring me!)
… and about a dozen and a half lunch and dinner dates with friends!
8. One thing I’ve really tried hard at doing here in Korea is to be faithful to various shops and restaurants in attempt to get my face known and to build a kind of community feeling. I always eat at the same Kimbab Nala, shop at the same clothing stores, and I even buy my fruit from the same fruit truck man every time. In return, they’ve extended friendship to me and it’s definitely made Korea more special to me. It feels good to stand at the lights and have the fruit truck man call out to me and then see the Kimbab Nala lady waving to me in the window. It feels like home.
9. Today I dropped by my favourite make-up shop. The shop is definitely more expensive than other places but it’s one of those places that you definitely get quality in return! Moreover, the lady always remembers me and gives me freebies... ㅋㅋㅋ Today she hooked up me up with some kick-a## foundation. It cost me an arm and a leg but she hooked me up included some free face emulsion, lotion and even an eye shadow brush. Very cool!
10. Movie night once again at Cineplex-Sambu… we watched “Monster In-Law” starring Jennifer Lopez. JLo didn’t look so great in the movie but wow, Jane Fonda looked incrediably stunning! It’s obvious she’s aged beautifully and time has definitely been good to her… wow!

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Do you feel lucky?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
