As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Tuesday, January 16

1. My morning was spent in bed stressing over my trip to Canada and visa process that I’ve yet heard what’s going on with.
2. Yikes! I really have to stop calling Mi-Nam Kim Tae and Kim Tae Mi-Nam! My father use to always call me by my brothers’ names by accident and so I find it really amusing but I’m sure Kim Tae doesn’t like being mistaken for a four-legged creature that licks himself… oh my gosh!
3. I admit, I was so hungry today but was too lazy to do any cooking or go outside and so my breakfast today consisted of a cup of coffee and a stale piece of bread with WAY too much peanut butter on it…ya, that can’t be too nutricious.
4. Kim Tae lately has taken the role of my private assistant, or so it seems. He’s my dinner companion, massage therapist, fitness buddy, movie downloader, shopping mate, dish-washer, dog pooper-scooper, and today he and Byung Hyuk were my escorts to my doctor’s appointment…ㅋㅋㅋ Thanks guys!
5. More pills, more ointment… hurry up legs, heal for goodness sake!
6. Kim Tae’s upgraded to “Doctor Kim”. Since I’ve been going to the doctors, some time ago, he’s be tending to my injured legs. It’s very flattering and very cute. He sits me down, notes any differences in my legs, applies the medication and then blows on them to calm the stinging. Thank goodness he’s a volunteer or he’d cost me an arm and a leg.
7. Treated my two favourite boys out to dinner. It wasn’t anything fancy or nothing but it’s always a good time.
8. Byung Hyuk… are you still studying English?! Hmm… I find it interesting that Kim Tae apparently translated a few things for you…hmm… are you slacking?
9. Ran into one of my co-workers, or I suppose I should say ex co-worker now that I’ll be at Dankook. It was Mr. Jo. He drove by, saw me, stopped and then yelled out, “I miss Amy”. It made me feel so wonderful. I miss you too Mr. Jo!
10. Wow, the boys are really going out of their way for tomorrow’s snowboarding trip. Tonight Kim Tae and Byung Hyuk rushed off to pick up the rental car. I, on the other hand, have been grudging this trip since day one! I love sports but I don’t see the fun in playing a sport that’s a. out in the cold snow, b. costs way too much, c. forces me to spend the whole day doing (cause it cost too much and cause it's in the middle of no where so I'm stuck), and d. could possibly send me to Canada in a body caste!

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Can I still say no?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
No regrets.

That's funny about the snowboarding. The high school I teach at has a ski and snowboard program for students where the kids get to spend 6 school days on the slopes. My students keep trying to get me to go with them but I have all of the same complaints as you do about the sport. I'm also no good at it so I'd have to add an e. makes me look like a fool in front of a lot of people.
