As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Valentine's Day 2007

1. Oh Valentine's Day... can't say I've ever really liked the day. Let's see, well, on previous Valentine's Days I've been forgotten about at a restaurant, proposed to, had to put my beautiful cat down, got a surprise visit from a guy I broke up with (boss gave him a job and his first shift was Valentine's Day... with me), and the list continues but I think you got my point. So, for today, I wanted nothing more than a calm, predictable, safe Valentine's Day.
2. Nice... Kobe for warned me that he was kidnapping me for the day. Cool.
3. Ran into one of my gym buddies, Elder, at the subway station. He's still the feisty trouble-maker I remember but is so much smaller.
4. Elder was with this girl, Amelia. I remember him mentioning things about her before but wow... she seems kind of possessive. When I saw Elder, he ran up to me to hug me and then no sooner did he hug her but then she was all in my face. I don't think any woman could ever tame this wild boy!
5. Holy highway robbery!!! At the Eaton's Center they offered me $60 for 94,000 won and so Kobe and I went in search of a better deal. Our better deal scored me $99 but sent us trekking through the snow and left me with numb toes.
6. Kobe asked me to be his Valentine... I accepted.
7. While I was being kidnapped, Alish left for the States to go see her boyfriend. It's been awesome being able to stay at her house with her but I felt sad that I didn't get to say good-bye to her. She's planning to move to the States in June for work and so I really don't know when I'll see her again... so bad.
8. Well my Valentine's Day was pretty tame... and it was just what I needed. Kobe and I headed to Jack Aster's for dinner and wow, the food was awesome! I ate so much I was sure I'd have to be rolled out!
9. If I get incredibly homesick for Canada, I totally blame "YOU"!!! "You" know who you are too!
10. Have come to the conclusion, not a definite conclusion but none the less, a kind of conclusion.. this will be my last year in Korea. Don't get me wrong, I love Korea but my trip to Canada has really opened my eyes to things and the great friends and things I love (boxing) that I left behind. I ventured to Korea to explore and learn more about the country and culture, but also to learn more about myself as a person, friend, sister, daughter, and teacher.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Do they celebrate Valentine's Day all over the world?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
You won't last in the single world. You're everything good in the world -- at least in my world.
-- my lovely Valentine
