1. Well Hannah got her tooth pulled today cause she couldn't afford to get it probably looked after... how brutal is that! I can't really say much on that though cause since I've been in Korea, I STILL haven't gone to the dentist! Truth be known... my biggest fear is the dentist!
2. Yup, I'm on holidays and what do I do?! I went into work today. I loaded myself up with a bag of ice cream goodies and headed in to say hi.
3. And just my luck, while I was there, one of my students called me to literally beg me to change her mark. Now, grant it, I did find a mistake and so I did up her mark. But then, once I told her I changed it, she then wanted it changed again. I'm sorry but no "B" student would ever get 51/100 on a final exam. I gave her a "C" and told her to accept it.
4. While chatting with Ki Dong, a student came into the office. Instantly I knew something wasn't right with this girl. I mean, besides the fact that she had literally NO bum, and was wearing total hoochie shorts, her voice sounded strange and her "top" was way too disproportionate for her body. What ever you have up top, you usually have in the back too but this poor girl looked like a unbalanced see-saw... hehehe.
5. Turns out she is he... well, use to be a he before "she".... he... whatever, got surgery to become a "she"... sound confusing?! Yup.... transgender. So, I have a question... if he is now a "she" then does "she" date men or woman... and if "she" dates men, would the men be considered gay; would the women be considered lesbians? Which brings me back to my original thought I mentioned on Saturday, does "she" seriously think that by shilling out mad cash to have surgery and hormones pumped into "her" make "her" a woman?! I know we always want what we don't have. We continually change our looks, whether it be perms, dye jobs, exercise, or whatnot, but come on... don't you think surgery is a little too far?
6. I've always believed that God doesn't make any mistakes in life. He made us all diverse for a reason. It's us who've gone and made the mistakes but, having said that, I still can wrap my head around why someone would want to go as far as to change their sex. It's like they're saying God made a mistake.
7. Got invited out to my first "boys night" in Korea... hehehe. Met up with Ki Dong and Jamie (Jamie is my coworker's husband). Ji Young ended up meeting up with us and so that was cool. Funny thing was though that Ji Young came right in the middle of a "totally guy" conversation... hehehe. Apparently Korean men talk no differently than Western men when it comes to women... hehehe. Mind ya, I don't think Ki Dong is a typical Korean. He's definitely a breed of his own!
8. We went in search of a place to sit, chat and watch the local "eye candy". Well, turns out that I was the only one to get some eye candy... the dude at the Mini Stop. And, as we sat there enjoying the night, we saw what we thought might be more eye candy... a strange girl sitting on the curb. She then got up, walked more into the street and then decided to lie down on the road. Now considering this is a huge main street located at the downtown core, I couldn't just sit there and watch this. I ended up rushing over to help her... almost pulled my back trying to pick up her... oh gosh!
9. Turns out she was more than just drunk, she was cuckoo... seriously! We tried to help her though... called her friend, I bought her bread, sat her down, I even thought about paying for her taxi ride home, but all she did was kiss my hand, say thank you and then throw my bread at some dude who also tried to help her. What's up with that?! That bread wasn't cheap you pyscho chick! And so on that note, we left. The chick was nuts!
10. Ended up chilling out at the GS 25 store at my building. Good times... totally. We chatted about everything and anything... and I ended up getting some pretty amusing advice on guys. Thanks dudes!
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Does being a good girl really do me any good?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does - except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place.
-- Abigail Van Buren
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Amy!
Please go to the dentist. I didn't go for the first 5 years I lived in Korea and I ended up having to have a root canal and a crown. Ironically, I ended up having all that dental work done in Korea (no insurance in the U.S.) and it was an amazingly smooth and painless experience. Unfortunately, I have a crazy gold tooth to prove it. Students here in the U.S. get a big kick out of gold teeth, btw. LOL.
If you believe in God, and you believe God doesn't make mistakes, why can't you believe God made transgendered people on purpose?
In a lot of cultures, transgendered people were (are) considered a gift. Look up "two spirit."
