1. Gotta love Facebook... connecting people from all over the world, reuniting friends from public school days, former lovers, highschool team mates... and family. The other day I got an email from some dude asking me if we're family. At first I thought this was a lame pick up line... hehehe. The guy looked about 20 and there was a hit of "player" in his blue-eyed glare. Turns out we are. He's my cousin Jayson who I haven't seen in, gosh, I don't know... maybe 20 years. He said he saw me once but apparently I didn't recongize him. Wow... I've got a good looking family... hehehe.
2. Running into Jayson on Facebook also lead me to meet up with other family members, my cousin Nadine and Jayson's sister Ashley. Cool.
3. Rushed off to school today to do more midterm review with my students. They all freaked out over the questions I had emailed them to study and so before class they had printed out my midterm review Power Point file... I love that. I love it when I walk around the room and see that they've printed it out. I guess it brings me a sense of pride knowing that they're really trying hard in my class.
4. Got a gift from that one student who acts like she's in love with me. This time it an expensive looking pen. It was wrapped with such care in pink paper with a pink ribbon to hold the paper in place.
5. Twenty minutes later, I lost the pen... oh gosh. A student came to the office to ask me some questions after class and I let them use the pen... then, without even thinking, I let them walk out with it.
6. I've upgraded... I'm no longer called the "Canadian girl", I'm now the "Canadian boxer". Cool. This came about after I ran into one of the girls who works at the eye doctor that I visited this past week. She approached me when I was out shopping and ended up telling her friends around her that I was a Canadian boxer.... everyone around her turned and starred at me. It was kind of ackward but pretty cool at the same time. The manager at the store we were in is familiar with me and so she asked me if it was true. She was so fasinated.
7. Well my phone totally kicked the can today and so I had to rush off to the LG service center. I'm convinced these Korean cell phones aren't meant to last. How else can you explain why a $300 phone has required repair twice in less than a year.
8. The LG man was quite fasinated in asking me a million and one questions when, after totally taking my phone apart and then back together again, he saw my screen picture (it's a picture of my boxing pro certificate). He said I was too pretty to be a boxer... wow, what a line!!! Hehehe....
9. On account that I had to slave away on my midterms tonight, I skipped out on weight training and boxing. As 9:30pm rolled around, I turned into quite the whinning baby... I love boxing and so I really hate missing training. I remember back in university, one summer I dated this big brute of a dude, Matthew. He was a bodybuilder who was obsessed with working out and I remember how he was always eating... hehehe. Once we went off-roading in his jeep, we tipped it, got stranded for a couple of hours and well, he went from being this 25 year-old man to a whinny 2 year old when he missed one of his meals. At the time I thought it was super funny (mind ya, he didn't) but now I'm turning into him... oh my gosh. By 11pm, when I knew the gym was closed, I had turned into a whinny 2 year old and was all frustrated.
10. Writing a 2 hour midterm took way too long, not to mention I had to make two, one for level 1 and another for level 2. It was brutal having to create the exams cause there's always the fear that it's too hard, too easy, too short, or too long. Finally, I finished it... and it felt good to have done all that hard work and finished.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What is a family?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Family isn't about whose blood you have. It's about who you care about.
-- Trey Parker and Matt Stone
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
