1. While looking at Mi Nam's pot-belly-pig-like body sleeping, it dawned on me, do dogs have a soul? I mean, people have souls and I believe that when the body dies, the soul continues to live on in heaven. So, what about Mi Nam? He has his own unique personality, likes and dislikes, he even has his own mini wardrobe and a favorite sweater where he eats all his treats on. He must have a soul, no?! Walt Disney says all dogs to heaven but seriously, do they? I asked Q what he thought. He said that Mi Nam had a soul and so I'll see him in heaven.
2. Had quite the funny conversation with Q, later on in the day, regarding Mi Nam. I told him, love me, love my dog. Mi Nam and I come as a couple package... hehehe. Mi Nam is by no means spoiled but he's also not exactly treated as a normal dog. He gets "time out" when he's bad, treats when he's good, I cuddle up to him when I sleep, I talk to him, and we even dance together... although, his dancing is more like him jumping at me, hehehe. I know he's not the smartest boy but neither are a lot of people I know. Lately Q and I have been talking about what kind of house/apartment we want to get when we get married. I told him that he has to consider Mi Nam's situation when looking around and so considering backyards are definitely rare here, a big balcony and a neighboring park is on the list of 'must haves'.
3. Ok... I have something to admit here, and before you want to pass judgement on me, point your finger, or shake you head, realize that I am not alone on this one. I am addicted... seriously addicted... like taking a $10 taxi in the middle of the night, addicted... to peanut butter.
4. ... and so is Mi Nam!!! I don't know what to say. I can't resist it! This week I went threw ONE HOW JAR of it!!! I have been eating it by the spoonfuls, literally. And to think, it's not even Skippy Peanut Butter!
5. I tried to distract myself from the luring peanut butter by typing up my Power Point lecture file for this week. Ahhhh... the last official lesson, sweet! Next week is the final lecture and then we have a week of review and then the exam. Nice!!!
6. Still no set plans for the summer, but I have been pondering the following ideas:
a. trip to Canada
- was thinking about doing what I did right before I left for Korea, having a massive party. This would let me see my friends in one shot... hello, birthday party?!!!
b. picking up a summer camp job and making extra cash... extra cash is always sweet
c. arrange to have Korean language class twice a week
d. eat, sleep, box... repeat
e. pick-up a last minute travel package and head south, maybe to the Philippines
f. renovate my house
7. Picked up my curtains today. The other day I noticed that they weren't actually hanging on a bar, instead, they had been tacked on to the window ledge... can you say ghetto?! Turns out they're not gray after all, they're white. Funny thing is, for the past 2 years I swore they were an ugly gray.
8. In Canada, things left untouched gather dust... in Korea, they gather a gray film, much like smoke ash.
9. My discovery of my not-really-gray curtains sent me into a cleaning frenzy and had me scrubbing down my whole apartment. I'm no Danny Tanner (Full House clean-aholic freak father) but I'm also not Oscar the Grunch who's quite alright living in a smelly, dirty house.
10. Met up with Q for a movie later on, once he returned from Daejon. Turns out his father is increasingly eager to meet me and so he told Q that if I come to Daejon that Q has to call him so that he can shower up and change his clothes... so cute! I've already met his friends, coworkers, mother, and younger brother but I think the real test of approval will be when I meet his grandmother and father. In Canada, I was always a big hit with the parents and whatnot cause I was the cute university-going girl who mothers loved cause I taught Sunday school and could eat all the food they shoveled on my plate, and who fathers loved because I liked wrestling and my idea of a dream car was an over sized, gas-guzzling monster truck with massive wheels and required a step ladder. But here in Korea, it's my manners and job that seems to impress them.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What impresses you?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Life is a zoo in a jungle.
-- Peter De Vries
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
