1. The makers of French Café have come up with a chilled coffee that contains NO sugar. It’s rather bitter but it only has 90 calories, 8 carbs, 5 grams of fat, and has 4 grams of protein… God bless their souls!!!
2. Mi Nam has decided to boycott eating his food for some reason, mind ya, he’s ALL about eating my food… human food that is. This is now day 2 of him not eating doggy food. I know I should just stick it out cause, well, eating is one of his hobbies and so him to not eat is practically impossible. He eats everything. But after our morning walk today I felt so uncomfortable to note that he still wasn’t eating.
3. Ending up making Mi Nam a peanut butter sandwich… hehehe.
4. The other night I forgot my umbrella in the back of Q’s truck and so today I was out of luck… or so I thought. My class was all the way on the other side of campus, a 15 minute walk with my heels (and my injured left foot… yes, I know. I shouldn’t be wearing heels but I am a stubborn mofo that loves style more than comfort). With the time ticking and the rain coming down, I thought of a genius idea: text message one of my students to come walk me to class, sweet… hehehe.
5. Word of me bribing my students with banana milk spread like wild fire and resorted in eight students arriving to come escort me to class with their umbrellas… hehehe.
6. One of my students in my second period class is always surprising me with little gifts. Today he showed up late and as I went to go mark him late, he approached my desk and handed me a cup of my favorite instant coffee… how could I mark him late after that?! Just joking.
7. Got royally drilled in front of EVERYONE tonight at boxing. It was gruelling, it was brutal, and it was painful for more than just me. Junior Mint has been focusing on my left; left upper cuts, left hooks, left body shots, left jabs. Tonight he had some of the high school boys line up in the ring and then ordered me to do two rounds of body shots on each student. The first student was simply warm-up, was getting tired by the end of the second student, third student left me dripping in sweat, and by the fourth student, I was tired and getting sloppy.
8. Fourth student was a young guy by the name of Sun Min. He’s one of the high school boys who I really like cause he train hards, always says hi to me and minds his own business. He first came to the club as a pudgy boy but has been quickly trimming up. Needless to say, I felt terrible when Junior Mint forced me to do two rounds of body shots on him, even more so when I accidentally punched him in the crotch. He took it like a man but yelled out in pain. I was so embarrassed but Junior Mint made me continue.
9. By the time training was finished, I was totally exhausted. Little Miss Sunshine (my personal masseuse.. hehe) was there tonight and so she gave me a much need shoulder massage. That girl rocks!!!
10. Got word that my little cousin Jayson, who apparently is quite the high-roller now or so it seems cause of his crazy travelling to Vegas and what not, may be coming to Korea in February… sweet!!!
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Where should I take my cousin Jayson so he really experiences Korea?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
You only live once - but if you work it right, once is enough.
-- Joe E. Lewis
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
