As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Friday, July 4

1. Early morning studying was interrupted with text messages galore from Q and his broken English… hehehe. That boy is addicted to this little Pollack… hehehe.

2. Spent a good chunk of my day playing with Mi Nam outside. He loves going outside and “walk” is the only English word he know but he goes crazy when he hears it. Lately I’ve been letting him off the leash, usually only late at night though. I take him down this long road that’s out of the way and where no one really ventures. Last night I took him off the leash and tried to call him. He didn’t come but instead was busy sniffing everything and anything he could brush his nose up against and so I decided to hide behind a truck. Well, upon him turning around and noticing that I was out of sight, he panicked and went bolting down the street. I felt terrible and so I went racing after him but couldn’t keep up with him.

3. Mi Nam ran all the way back home and so when I finally caught up to him, at Sambu, there he stood huffing and puffing at the elevator. It was too cute for words but I felt terrible for scaring him. I thought it would be funny but it was clearly not funny to him and so I knelt down and smothered him with kisses and I’m sorrys.

4. Heading into boxing today for day 2 of training with my dampou and without a scheduled fight was quite the workout and it made it hard for me to see, literally, with all the sweat literally pouring down my face.

5. Good and bad news: Milk Dud and Junior Mint sat down today to seriously discus scheduling me a fight. Bad news is it may not be till September and so I’ll have to carefully pick what day off I want this upcoming semester. Moreover, this may mean no summer trip to Canada.

6. Having said this though, am hoping to use the money I get from my fight and from my sponsors to pay for Q’s ticket to Canada. We talked about the idea of him and I going together to Canada for Christmas and he’s all for it… wicked!!!

7. Later in the evening I met up with Q. We went grocery shopping, yet again. With eating
five times a day and having Q over so much, we need his truck to go shopping.

My Grocery Shopping List: (which I must note, lasts about 4 days)
- 2 cartons of eggs (18 in a pack)
- 4 boxes of boneless chicken breasts
- 5 large carrots
- 3 heads of broccoli
- 2 cans of tuna
- 2 bags of large green peppers
- 1 box of unsalted crackers
- 1 massive box of small tomatoes
- 6 1 litre bottles of water
- 6 packs of 0% home style, plain flavour yogurt
- 6 large cucumbers
- 4 bottles of “Sae Ssak Ya Chae” (translates to Sprout Vegetables) veggie juice (contains 19 veggies and 4 fruits)
- 1 box of Dr. You high protein bar
- 1 carton of low-fat milk
- 1 bag of sweet potatoes
- 1 bottle of Pace mild salsa
8. Am hoping to buy a DVD player soon so that Q and I can take our movie watching addiction to the next level instead of dishing out cash and having to always get dressed up to watch a flick. But until then, we’re stuck finding other means of entertainment in my house, including teasing Mi Nam with my laser pointer, chit chatting, wrestling with Mi Nam, snacking, studying (well me, not Q), and reading.

9. Introduced Q to the wonderful world of “The Game of Life”. I loved playing this game growing up and so when I saw a copy of it here in Korea, I scooped it up quickly. I’ve played it with my parents English class at Eumbong and they loved it. Tonight I played it with Q. He was a teacher with a $70,000 salary, a beautiful $160,000 home and a wife. I, on the other hand, I started off as an entertainer but lost my job and became an artist. I lived in a $60,000 trailer with my husband, son and twin girls. Note the irony though between the game and my real life! Ya, thank goodness it’s ONLY a game.

10. Let Q in on my “secret” jello recipe… it comes in a box and you just add water… hehehe.
