1. My day temporarily started at exactly 3:34am with a totally unexpected phone call from my once totally adored but now not-so-in-touch friend, Mook, and what I thought was his overly jealous girlfriend. The conversation started off with him telling me that he missed me a lot and then the phone was taken over by his girlfriend. As soon as I heard, “I Mook’s girlfriend..” I thought to myself, “Oh gosh… this is too early to have a cat fight!”… hehehe.
2. I’ve never met Mook’s girlfriend, nor did I know he even had one for that matter, but she had seen me on TV and insisted Mook let her talk to me, hence the phone call. Convincing his girlfriend to put Mook back on the phone was rather funny. She kept on telling me that she loves my dog, nice. Since Mi Nam’s appearance with me on “Love in Asia”, two people have asked me to breed him. He went from being considered the ugly anti-social dog that snorts, grunts and snores to being the pimp-daddy with the four-legged ladies and their owners tying up my phone… hehehe.
3. With temperatures reaching over 30 degrees, venturing outside for a leisurely stroll with Mi Nam turned out to be not so leisurely. Thanks to the two cute mini Koreans playing in their tube of water outside who had fun splashing us with water! Much, much, much appreciated!!!
4. With so much time on my hands and lack of focus, I’ve been quite unproductive with anything outside of training and so today I found myself bored out of my skull.
5. When I am bored I clean and so today I took everything out of my fridge. Food, shelves, drawers, bottles… you name it, it came out. My ex had once filled the top shelf with his pickled garlic, sardines, and various forms of kimchi. He and I, “Us”, are long over but you know what, I never could bring myself to throw his food out. The food was originally put in the fridge well over two years ago and so, since then, it has grown, shrunk, multiplied, died, and developed new smells, all of which have been miraculously contained within the separate Tupperware containers they sit in… nasty!!!
6. Q spent the night with his coworkers at another Pension City and so he knew better than to even hint about me coming. He did, however, promise me that he’d be back in Cheonan today at 3pm and so at 3pm I was all ready for him. I was itching to get out of the house and do something, anything. He never showed up.
7. The other day Q referred to my bum as being an apple. Not too sure what that meant. I happen to like apples, they’re nutritious and yummy. I’ve never had any complaints but I didn’t know what to make of his apple reference and so when he didn’t show up, I texted him a picture of Mi Nam’s bum. What reference do you make of this bum?! Hehehe….
8. Finally he showed up… later in the evening after the movie theatre had become a packed house with little to no movies to chose from, supper had been eaten, I had changed back into my scruffs, and my itch to get out of the house had turned into a desperate craving… and so I left.
9. I left him at the house, jumped into a cabbie and headed to LotteMart to pick up some groceries. I wasn’t even really mad at him, I was more just ticked off at myself cause I knew I had contributed to my own frustration by revolving my life around as few people as possible. Q being one of those few and so while I can honestly say that I don’t care what many people think or do to me, I find that I am all that more sensitive with matters involving people I do really place a high importance on. Anyway, I returned home about 40 minutes later to an Q-less home, a note on my desk and a clueless looking Mi Nam. Forty minutes after I returned, Q returned. We both said our two cents and that was that.
10. Taking Mi Nam out for his evening walk turned into quite the big event when I let him off his leash and he spotted a street cat. Off he went, chasing the cat. The cat ran, Mi Nam ran after the cat, I ran after Mi Nam,… and Q watched and laughed… hehehe. Sprinting in thong sandals down a dark road was not how I wanted to end my night but it gave Q a huge giggle, me a good workout, and resulted in Mi Nam sleeping soundly for the whole night.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What do you do when you are bored?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Boredom is just the reverse side of fascination: both depend on being outside rather than inside a situation, and one leads to the other.
-- Susan Sontag
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
