As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Hey Amy,
Sorry it took a bit to respond and also thanks for the encouragement. You know I think I’m like you because some of the women I know don’t understand that boxing is just an interest I have and although it’s not like other sports it to me is sort of a physical chess match. I’m glad you can relate and have the love of it like I do.
I’m going to put this response on two of your posts so you don’t miss it because it took a while to get back to you. My lip was ok actually the next day although a little sore. It was swollen pretty good after the sparring and I did take a lot of lefts and was surprised that it had that effect. My friend videoed it and I can see how I wasn’t thinking because I kept trying to go after Shaun and walking into a lot of the jabs. It’s funny, she would get me with a jab and I’d have the mindset ok well let me get her and then as I moved toward her she would get another left jab in. I learned a lot though Amy that (1) my gloves were too low and (2) don’t get mad at yourself and go after your opponent without thinking first. It was kind of tough seeing the match and having to take a damn eight count but I admit I needed it because I was kind of wobbly. The jabs will get to you for sure. I learned a bit Amy and we are going to spar more so I hope I can get it together.
I read your account of your sparring with the guys. It’s too bad you don’t have a regular female your size and all to spar with. I am lucky having this girl Shaun who is nice actually and a good match up for me. We’re going to spar again soon so wish me luck. Heh heh.
Amy, thanks so much for the encouragement again and you keep up the training also. You inspire me also to do better. :)
