As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Friday, December 5

1. Last night while I all cozy and snug in my blankets, Jack Frost and Old Man Winter apparently came to Korea, causing the temperatures to greatly drop. No, Jack Frost and Old Man Winter aren’t nicknames for people in my life, instead, they’re minus winter weather temperatures and cold winds, both of which I thought I left in Canada.

2. What started off as my usual bus ride into Seoul for Korean tutoring turned into a mini police chase with a police cruiser pulling my bus over. Not too sure what it was all about but the two police men made the bus driver step out of the bus and then another police cruiser pulled up behind our bus. The situation never became anything more than talk and a fifteen minute delay.

3. Being the paparazzi girl that I am,… hehehe… I tried to take a picture. It was too sunny and so the police car blocking the front of the bus never came out but I did manage to get a shot of a police officer sneaking up the side of the bus.

4. Showed up at boxing and was greeted by a super stressed, very angry Junior Mint and an equally stressed Milk Dud. At first I thought they were just worked-up because of Junior Mint’s big upcoming fight (Dec. 20) but after a bit, I clued in that it was a whole other issue.

5. Some man came to the club looking for Milk Dud. S-Line Wanna-Be Girl was there and so she and Milk Dud went into the stairwell to talk to the man while Junior Mint stood in the club, giving looks that could kill. Junior Mint and I have a pretty close relationship. We’re pretty open with what we talk about. I tell him my secrets and he tells me his. Tonight he tried to tell me what was going on but he was so mad he couldn’t even talk. I’ve never seen him like
this.

6. Ended up sticking around the club late tonight on account that Junior Mint joined them out in the stairwell and their conversation carried on for quite some time, leaving me with a club full of high school and middle school wanting help with training.

7. By the time I left training I was totally exhausted… so much for doing anything else tonight. See B-Man, I TOO stay home on Friday nights :(

8. Just think, in less than two weeks I’ll be done school for the semester, sweet!!! Sure I have to work the winter English camp but it’s only for two hours in the evening, 15 days.

9. Many of my students have told me all about their winter plans. We have two months off, giving us ample time to do things. Many of the girls want to diet, other students want to get part-time jobs or travel. And so I got thinking, what are my winter plans? Besides asking everyday when my next official fight is and scheduling it, I do have some other plans and ideas I’m juggling.

10.
My winter holiday plans:
- I’m going ice fishing January 10-11th
- go to Japan to see Satoshi
- pick up the intensity with my weight training
- continue boxing six days a week (like my current schedule)
- find a new vet for Mi Nam
- re-wall paper and renovate my house
- get more serious about my Korean language studies
- renew my housing contract
- visit Giggle Girl Jr. and her mom in Seoul
- get back to making more videos

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Have you started to think about your New Year's resolutions?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.

See, we are connected :P
Im sorry Junior Mint is going through a tough time and cant open up to you (whether it be by choice or difficult communication)
Sometimes we have to be there for out friends, and sometimes they need to stick it out for themselves.
You need more videos and reply to comments more!

Hi B-Man,
Ok, ok... so I have some catching up on my comments to do, I know... hehehe. I'm doing some of that now.
I hear ya.. sometimes they have to work it out on their own. It frustrates me though to know that our language barrier burdens me in situations like this.
