As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, December 4

1. Emailed Italiano last night, asking him “Am I really a bad person?” to which he replied, “There is nothing evil about you (although some of those heels and pencil skirts are pretty dangerous…but in a good way!)”… thank you. I needed a good giggle.

2. Early morning coffee in class courtesy of two of my students from my all-boys class… thank you, I needed that too.

3. Coffee count for the week, 2.... two too many :(

4. In attempt to defend and prove my point about diet being 80% responsible for the physical state of your body, I accepted a bet… and I definitely don’t plan on losing. My Fine-Feathered Friend argues that the diet in the book I’m currently writing is bunk and so he’s determined to prove that he’s got a better diet. So, the deal is, we’re both going to test out our own interpretations of dieting, give it a month, and then see who wins. The biggest loser (kgs lost) will be the winner. Bet starts Monday and ends January 5th, 2009. Unlike my Fine-Feathered Friend who’ll be struggling on Christmas and New Year’s Eve, I have absolutely no plans but kicking his butt and proving my point. Am hoping Junior Mint gives me the club key so that I train on those days.

5. I’ve always been a fan of healthy eating but I’ve been more focused on maintaining my weight and building muscle lately. I've stick to my usual healthy foods but allow myself to eat out once in awhile. I don’t care so much lately about what the scale reads, I care about how strong my punches are but come this Monday, the scale will be my focus.

6. Well, I am officially done marking all my students’ reports and so now I’m on to marking this week’s quiz and then next week’s exam. This week I’ve been working non-stop on those reports and it’s left me feeling a bit brain dead. My brain has been in overload drive for two long.

7. I was craving a couple of hours of no-thinking, no-doing, and no-noise. I just wanted to be a vegetable on the couch for a bit, to enjoy my freedom… freedom from the reports that is.

8. I can’t say that marking those reports was so bad though, it wasn’t. It was just time consuming. The questions they had asked in their surveys ranged from “what’s your favourite food?” to “what do you do while sitting on the toilet?” and “how much physical contact to you allow on a date?” I had emphasized uniqueness and creativity but wow, I didn’t think they’d get so down right personal!!!

9. To celebrate reports being over and down with and to say good-bye to my most blessed carbs (come Monday that is), I accepted an offer to be treated out to sushi. There’s a beautiful sushi restaurant just minutes from my house and despite knowing the main sushi chef there, it’s quite expensive.

10. Got a private room at the sushi restaurant, ordered a whack of sushi and then wined and dined like the Polish Princess (폴란드 공주님) a certain someone keeps on calling me… hehehe. Our waitress was this stunning middle aged woman decked out in a Japanese dress who was as sweet as she was pretty. She told us all about the sushi, what part of the fish it was and then sat outside our door, waiting to help us when called.

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
If we are what we eat, what are you?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
My favourite animal is beef.

No kidding! Me TOO.
:P
Im glad youre feeling better. Something you have that not everyone does, is something to focus on during the bad times. Theres always a new man, a new friend, your job, your boxing, your health. I swear, Id do anything to have more things to do than just wake up, got to school late, learn for 8 hours, go home, and stay on the computr everynight (including tonight, FRIDAY NIGHT)

Hey B-Man,
Thanks, ya, I'm feeling much better. Those student reports killed all my free time and left me feeling totally drained.
Don't be so hard on yourself, I'm sure you have lots of things to wake up to.
I sometimes envy my students for being back in school, surrounded by friends and busy with their studies. I think if I had to repeat it all, I'd be more socialable in university. I was a really focused student, always giving up my evenings to study in the library or attend some professor's extra weekend lecture.
