1. My heart jumped out of my chest today when I woke up and rushed to check if Satoshi had emailed me. Yup, he had, but he had emailed me bad news… terrible news. News I still can’t believe are true. Black Skinny lost his fight and I feel terrible for him. So if I was regretting not going to Japan before to watch this fight than I am definitely regretting it like there’s no tomorrow now!!! To think, he’s out in Japan with no one but Junior Mint to do “damage pick-up”, as we call it. Junior Mint’s got a tough job ahead of him considering Black Skinny has always been like a leader to us, the unstoppable pro star who’s never failed us before and who’s always been the one we’ve leaned on, looked up to, admired, and strived to be like. I hope he hurries back to Korea so that we can help pick him up.
2. Receiving the bad news regarding Black Skinny, I then brought my kicked-down-spirits to school. Thankfully this week my classes are short cause well, between you and me, I wasn’t quite in the mood to deal with my one particular class and their minus-one-hundred energy levels. Class was short, sweet, and over quite quickly.
3. Like always, and as expected, my second class succeeded in picking up my spirits, like they do every single week. God bless these mini Koreans and there dangerously cute smile cheeks that I just want to pinch the heck out of… hahaha.
4. It seems like I’ve started some weekly traditions with various students, apparently. Every Tuesday now this one particular student has been walking me to the bus, just like another student of mine on Wednesdays who walks part way with me and another student with whom I share a cab home with once a week. I like these little “traditions”, they’re definitely a sweet perk of the job.
5. A certain someone I know, who’ll remain nameless cause, well, I can’t exactly call him Mr. I-thought-you-were-cooler-before-you-opened-your-mouth-and-proved-your-minus-level-of-IQ, Annoyingly-dumb… actually I guess I can and I just did… hahaha. Anyways, I’ll refrain from getting colourful with the many names I’d love to call him but I will say this, just because I shared my cookies with you doesn’t mean I was trying to imply something sexual. Please do flatter yourself. I gave you my cookies because I don’t eat sweets and well, to be brutally honest, it looks like you really don’t mind filling up on your share, plus some, of cookies.
6. Yes, I can be mean and yes, I know that was mean of me to say… but it’s true. I never said I was nice, remember that.
7. Rumors flooded the boxing club tonight as numerous boxers all gossiped about Black Skinny possibly quitting boxing. I’d hate to even consider it being true but I know that now that he’s married and baby Hulk Hogan has just arrived, that he’s got a whole new set of priorities… yet another reason why I’m so anti-baby. Giving up what you love for a non-stop drooling, pooping, crying butterball-of-a-person who’ll eat up all your food, money, energy, time, and passions apparently. Black Skinny loves boxing, he can’t give it up.
8. Met one of my friend’s girlfriends and he introduced me by telling her that I was secretly a guy and that I was wearing a sports bra only to fool the fools at the boxing club… nice. Great first impression. I responded with “Ya, right…Actually, I only wore this sports bra because you’re wearing my favourite one!”… hahaha.
9. My foot continues to annoy the heck out of me during training which is making me quite concern. I really don’t think it’s what I originally thought it was. It’s no longer the arch of my foot that is sore but the ball of my foot, my right foot.
10. Not much fun after boxing, no sorry. It was back to school work for me; marking student homework notebooks and preparing a Power Point lecture file for the class I’m substituting tomorrow.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Who said I said I was nice?
QUOTE OF THE DAY...
I am a part of all that I have met.
-- Alfred Lord Tennyson
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.
