1. It was definitely nice to be able to wash my hair today. I had been told to give my hair one day’s rest, cause of the bleach-fest-craze I’ve had just a couple of days ago. It was one thing that I couldn’t wash my hair for one day but not being able to wash my hair after weight training AND after boxing was just pure nasty.
2. Snickers obviously must really love me if he was able to put up with my nasty, totally tangled, insanely sweaty, and greasy hair… hahaha. Even I didn’t want to look at myself in the mirror! Mi Nam gave me a bit of a double look… hahaha.
3. Funniest thing I heard today came from one of my awesome morning students. “You look like a foreign girl now!” he said me.
4. My medical students joked around and asked me if me changing my hair had anything to do with them letting me embarrassingly sport a sticker in my hair last week for 2 hours… hahaha.
5. Next week there’s a huge amateur tournament that will be running for a good part of the week and so today I got to train with some of those who’ll be competing. Milk Dud is competing and he’s lost an impressive 7kgs in the past two weeks in preparation for his fight. I tried to encourage him on with commenting about his training and whatnot but the thing that really got him to smile was when I blurted out, “Wow… you’re head looks so small now.” Koreans seem to have this continual fascination with head size. I get many compliments on my head cause it’s rather small but, strangely enough, I can’t help but think of a voodoo-doll when I hear someone say small head… hahaha.
6. At Snickers’ last boxing fight the a spark occurred between me and a fellow boxer at UP Boxing Club. And by spark I don’t mean a romantic spark cause oh please, have you seen my gorgeously beautiful boyfriend?!!! Anyways, by spark I mean that we went from just saying hi and bye at the club to standing around chatting and him buying me ice cream. I’ve nicknamed him the Korean Bulldog. I’m not too sure how old he is but he’s built like a bulldog, very stalky, and he scrunches up his face sometimes when he’s sparring.
7. Got my official invite tonight from the Korean Bulldog himself. He has his professional day bu fight next month on the 28th and he asked me tonight if I’d stand in his corner. Very cool.
8. How ironic, Snickers use to complain about my constantly nibbled-on, stumpy fingernails because they were too short, but now he complains because my nails are too long. He keeps on threatening me that he’s going to chop them; I hope he doesn’t.
9. Lecturing Snickers about the importance of eating well appears to be getting me no where and no where fast. Sure he’s got a gorgeous 6-pack ripped body but underneath that body I seriously sometimes find myself wondering what’s going on inside and what’s going to become of it later. I have never claimed to have the perfect body but I can confidently say that I have been trying my hardest to do my body good. I learned just how important my health was a couple of years ago when I had a minor heart attack and collapsed at the boxing club during training. And with a mother who just this year almost died because of poor health and an uncle that’s been given 6 months to live because of his health, health has become a top priority in my life. The idea of a delicious cookie splurge or whatnot doesn’t really interest me. Don’t get me wrong, although I’m not a cookie or chocolate fan, I do occasionally treat myself to ice cream, but all in moderation. That’s the key, moderation. Moderation as in a little here, a little here, but Snickers’ doesn’t get that. I thought he would have learned the importance of health by now, now that his father has turned his own lifestyle around and now that his grandfather is literally waiting in some hospital here in Cheonan to die.
10. Snickers idea of eating well includes doing silly things like eating four ice cream bars at a time, putting cookies (which I should note here have cream centers) in a massive bowl of cereal, eating cake for breakfast, and eating ten sausages in one sitting. I figure that it’s because of his youth, mixed with a fast metabolism, high intensity of training, and the fact that he never really seems to sit still is why he doesn’t pack on the pounds like most people. Having said that though, that can only last for so long and who knows what’s really going on inside his body. Anyways, I blurted out today that if he doesn’t change his eating habits than I will not marry him. As harsh as it sounds and as foolish as it may seem, it’s the truth. I refuse to sit by and watch someone sabotage their body, not to mention possibly influence me with them or any possible child we may have. Moreover, I refuse to work my butt off to support someone’s hospital bills and I refuse to become a widow. “I will love you till death but if you want push yourself there faster by eating yourself to death” I told him, “then you do that on your own.”
QUESTION OF THE DAY…
Can you wait a minute?
QUOTE OF THE DAY…
Procrastination is opportunity's assassin.
-- Victor Kiam
As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).
After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.
Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

I suppose it's better that you are giving him these kind of ultimatums now instead of waiting until after you're married to spring it on him that you want to be the boss of what he can and can't eat.
