As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Friday, November 6

1. Piled on the layers and had a very sweaty run on the treadmill.

2. Pushed myself too far with training chest and back today after I stepped on the scale and looked down at a disappointing number on the scale. YBin is pushing me to be 47kgs in about 3 weeks so that I can then jump back up to 53kgs temporarily, gain more strength and then drop down to 47kgs again for weigh-in. My goal is to lose 2kgs (=4.4lbs) a week.

The picture is a bit fuzzy, I know. I think it's cause I scared Kitty Cat a bit when I gave her my tough girl flex for the shot... hahaha.

3. The student who labeled me the “girl with sunshine in her eyes” in his writing continues to write about me in class and continually hides his writings from me. I use to think it was really flattering but now I seriously question his intentions. When he asked to go to the bathroom I scooped up his book once he left the room and noted that all his writings were about me.

4. At the back of his book he had listed various strange things about me: likes Anna Sui perfume but stopped wearing perfume in October, only paints her toes hot pink, wears a watch but uses her cell phone to check the time, likes almonds in her yogurt, and so on. To tell you the truth, I was rather freaked about what I had read but I didn’t know how to respond or react so I simply put his book back on his desk.

5. Two of my female students in my last class of the day are always chatting with me about diet and exercise. Apparently I have become the “Know it girl” about health and fitness and so I love it. I’m always reading articles online about training and whatnot so it’s great to be able to pass on what I’ve learned to others. My tip of the day to these two girls was to make a goal, create a plan on how to get to that goal, and go get that goal. For me my goal is obviously oriented towards my boxing game. If it weren’t for my game weigh-in requirements, I really could careless about what number pops up on the scale. My goals beyond the 47kgs weigh-in involves getting my 6-pack, getting a more defined v-cut in the side of my shoulders, and scoring buns of steel… hahaha.

6. At boxing tonight I was told to give my right hand a rest, it’s still somewhat in pain, and so I was told by Junior Mint not to work the heavy bag or do any pad work. It was so frustrating. I had the energy, the drive, and the desire, but I just didn’t have the strength in my right hand to be able to. Hope is to be better by Monday so that I can continue to go hardcore with training.

7. Snickers showed up to walk me home from boxing tonight and so that was definitely a sweet surprise.

8. Junior Mint was as cute as a button tonight when he took it upon himself to put his arm around Snickers’ shoulders and sit him down for a heart-to-heart talk about Snickers wanting to marry me. The two of them never did tell me what they talked about but Snickers did note that Junior Mint referred to himself as my “older brother” in the conversation. And on that note, I think I just found out who’d be worth it for me to get to walk me down the isle and give me away if my own father can not travel to Korea for my wedding.

9. Waiting for Snickers to propose to me is driving me bonkers and making my brain work on overload. He’s always calling me “C.I.A” because I think too much but also because I always manage to figure things out on my own. One thing I know he knows is that I’ve started to put the pieces together with his proposal plan and so I know I am taking the surprise out of his surprise by doing so.

10. “I just want to be Mrs. Kim.” I told him. “Let’s do this!”

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
How can a society that exists on instant mashed potatoes, packaged cake mixes, frozen dinners, and instant cameras teach patience to its young?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

Hi Amy,
First off I like the question of the day you posted. Heh heh. Makes you think you know?
I think Snickers should hurry and propose to you for sure. :)
I think those pictures are great. The top picture, are those punching bag gloves? I wonder if I should use some like that against my sparring partner Kim? Less padding though right? Hmmm?
Be careful with your right hand and keep up the boxing training. Oh, I think that student has a definite crush on you. :)
The last photo of you is great and shows how fit you are. :)
