2. Despite this upcoming week being my first official week with no real obligations, I have lots to do.
Things to do this week:2. No sooner did Snickers kiss me on the forehead and head out the door for Granny-K’s house but a delivery man arrived. Two packages arrived from my parents in Canada, both were for Snickers.
a. set up an appointment at the Canadian Embassy
b. get, fill out, and get notorized the documents required for our wedding
c. deal with cashing out my pension
d. go ring shopping for Snickers’ wedding band
e. complete and hand in my teaching portfolio
f. clean out my desk at Dankook
g. dye my hair – yes, again
h. mail my Christmas presents… oops, a little late
3. Today marked Day 49 of Grandpa-K’s death and so Snickers headed out to attend the ceremony. I originally had anticipated going along with him but pulled out last minute on account that I felt I was intruding.
4. Headed off to Dankook for a run. I went for one of my hard runs, meaning that I loaded up on the clothes. Seriously, I felt like a contestant on “The Biggest Loser” because in addition to the tank top, “second skin” shirt, sweater, and Adidas winter training jacket I had on, I also had on a pair of leggings, my “second skin” pants, my Adidas winter training pants, runners, and a baseball cap on.
5. Running with all those layers on definitely makes for a hard run but apparently, despite all my layers and my decreased speed, I still managed to out run 22 Dankook University sports students who were also out on the trail running.
6. Getting asked if I was a student by the sports students’ coach made me feel quite proud. I’m 29, my fiancé is 25, and yet so many people think we’re the same age. Snickers appears young because of his immature silliness and joking manner, but apparently I appear young because I look young – sweet. I’ll take that!
7. Snickers returning to Ggum Guum and being presented the presents sent from my family instantly sent him into giggle-mode. My parents sent him a sweater and chocolates, and yes, I was jealous. I didn’t get any presents but Snickers gave me one of his Reese Pieces chocolates.
8. For the next half hour or so, Snickers thought it funny to practice what he’d say if he were to call up my mom and say thank you. He had trouble with how exactly to address her. He started off with calling her “Mommy” but the funniest was when he accidentally called her “Baby”… hahaha.
9. Japan here WE come?!... maybe. With Snickers’ coach not being so productive with setting up fights for him, frustrations are raising and today crap hit the fan at his boxing club. Japan continues to tug on Snickers’ sleeve, but Canada is presenting him some very tempting opportunities, and Snickers is itching to leave Korea now more than ever.
10. So on that note, I told Snickers to go relax and hang out with his friends. I headed off to Dankook to work while he had fun. My professional portfolio is due this week and so I’ve got that one last thing to do for the school. Snickers showed up around 1am to come help me out and to drive me home.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Where will we go next year?
