As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, January 28

1. Waking up every morning to a man who greets me with a smile and an omelet specially made for me is pretty sweet, I must admit it. I’m definitely loving this breakfast buffet deal and so is Snickers… and so are the fish! Hahaha…

2. Spent our morning indulging in a couple massage. They had us strip down to these skimpy one-use panties, of which I must note that the back was the same as the front (barely there) and so I had a good giggle seeing Snickers wearing them. The panties were hilarious but the massage was nothing short of relaxing.

3. Our morning massage was followed by lounging around the pool and then playing ping-pong. There’s two ping-pong tables outside our hotel room and so it was oh-so tempting to play. I’m proud to say that yes, I did kick Snickers’ butt at ping-pong… hahaha.

4. Ping-pong was followed by exercising. Snickers went and did weight-training at the resort gym while I did laps in the resort’s lap pool, and then exercising was followed by swimming and splashing around in another one of the resort’s pools.

5. I made friends with an older French couple at the pool while Snickers got yelled at for slashing around too much. “No diving!” yelled a proud French woman at Snickers. “It’s called a back flip.” I said in his defense. “Wow.. she English is badder than mine” Snickers added… hahaha.

6. So far I’ve been sticking to speaking mainly Korean. Yesterday I practiced my Japanese and French, and today I got to practice my Polish when Snickers and came across a group of overly-hyper Polish people at one of the neighboring resorts along our beach walk. We first spotted them in the pool but later on we spotted them playing volleyball. I taught Snickers how to say “good” in Polish and so he yelled it out. All eyes turned on him, a Korean dude speaking Polish. We all had a good giggle over that.

7. Discovering an over-sized game of chess and a secluded hammock that fit the two of us super snug made for quite the interesting afternoon.

You can call me "Queen Kim" now... hahaha.

Interesting sign.
Another temple... and another totally Korean pose... hahaha.

8. Originally, I was contemplating getting married in Bali but after a quick glimpse of the costs involved I quickly ditched that idea. None the less, it was very interesting to see the chapel that I had my eye on. It was perched up on a wall of water and the chapel consists of all windows and a very long, very beautiful isle that is bordered by water. Mind ya, it was bordered off because they were preparing for a wedding that night and so I didn’t get to walk the isle. I didn’t have an isle to walk down in my own wedding and I couldn’t even so much walk down this one just for fun… boo to that.
Surprisingly enough, seeing this chapel that I so had my heart set on was both a happy and sad occasion. I regret not having an isle to walk down on my so-called wedding day but seeing the isle that I really wanted to walk down was hard. Snickers tried to make me smile though by promising me that we'll come back here one day to renew our vows and so I'll get my walk down the isle.

9. Every hour a free shuttle bus goes around the neighboring resorts, picks people up and then takes them to a shopping area called “Sogo”. Today Snickers and I hoped on this bus. We thought we’d indulge in a local restaurant and I was sure Snickers’ would enjoy it. Turns out Snickers eats everything but there’s a catch. The catch being that he eats everything if it’s Korean food, which meant his seafood dish was barely touched… it definitely touched my pocket book though, just enough to put a little dent in it mind ya.

10. Returned to our resort to go swimming yet again. The waiter at the fancy restaurant where we had eaten at last night greeted me and so I stopped to ask him what time the pools close. “You’re on your honeymoon… have fun!” and so we took that as a go-ahead, jumped in the pool, and we didn’t get out till about midnight.
QUESTION OF THE DAY...
When am I going to be able to have an official "walk"?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed - else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die.
-- Dwight D. Eisenhower
