Baby, It's Cold Outside!... Wednesday, February 1

Turns out the postponed date for my fight was reported incorrectly.

Fight postponed to Sun., Feb. 19th.

I’m certainly relieved that I won’t be fighting on my father’s birthday.

Spent a chunk of my afternoon translating a birthday letter Snickers had written to my father. He sat down the other day and started writing something in my Korean writing practice book but I didn’t really pay attention to what he was doing. I suspected he was editing my writings or writing something cute for me to discover. Turns out it was a letter to my father and it started out “To My Canadian Father, to whom I miss…” Snickers writes with a very innocent style, freely writing that he worries about my father and loves him, and I like that. He thinks nothing about telling my father that he misses him and I like that too – his willingness to say exactly what he means without feeling shy about it.

We were supposed to go to the Canadian Embassy today, to renew my passport, but on account of the crazy cold snap that has hit Korea our little road trip was a no go. The roads are too icy. Instead, we stayed inside and played with Pyen Chi. I made us kicking chicken wraps for a late night dinner after I returned from boxing. Word has it that Snickers fight is canceled but no one wants to tell us the brutal truth that it is; it’s still in the rumor stage. So on account of these rumors Snickers has been quite frustrated, as expected, and sent me to boxing alone. I trained alongside Black Skinny, Captain Jab and the Cheonan Bulldog so there was definitely a lot of great positive energy freely flowing. I wished Snickers had joined me though instead of staying home. I too have those days when I don’t want to go training. It’s more or less that I don’t want to freeze my butt off on route to training, but once I get there I am good to go. It’s getting up and getting there that’s hard. Ggum Guum is so toasty warm and with my two best buddies by my side it’s hard to not want to be anywhere but there.

Today marks the 2,539th day I've been living here in Korea. I know this because of the counter on my blog, my blog that I apparently have been writing for 2,393 days... wow. And to think, when I first came here I thought I'd only be here for a year, well that was the plan.
