As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Put Down the Sugar and Nobody Gets Hurt... Friday, June 1

Upon walking into the LG service center, I smelt the temptation -- coffee galore.

Upon being told I'd have to sit and wait, I discovered more temptation -- a freezer full of ice cream.

What service center offers it's waiting customers a full-fledged help-yourself coffee bar, fridge full of drinks, sugar overload and a freeze stocked with probably more ice cream than even your local corner store?!  LG, that's who.

That's right.

Ah LG.  I hope to never return to and not because your workers weren't extremely helpful and not because I didn't appreciate your over-the-top generosity with the beves and snackies, but because Snickers has a sweet tooth that he can't quite tame.  He downed two coffees, three candies, a choco-pie, and two ice creams!!!  Yikes.

"A minute on your lips forever on your hips" is what my father always used to tell me.  I didn't tell that to Snickers but I did ask him if whether he was intending to make a full meal out of sugar or wanted to see how fast he could make his teeth rot.

Today Snickers started swimming lessons... which is too cute for words but that's not what I want to talk about here.  The point of me mentioning it here isn't really connected to my sugar-coated LG visit except for  the fact that he thought because he trained hard he could indulge with his eating.  No such luck there big guy.  He knows better too but he'll be the first to admit he's got a sweet tooth.

Speaking of sweet tooth and training hard, Mariusz Pudzianowski -- Snickers' and my favourite strong man in the World's Strongest Man Competitions and probably the longest title holding competitor in it -- was quoted saying that candy is a big part of his diet.
"My energy comes from my diet. Breakfast is 10 eggs and two to three pounds of bacon. Between meals, I eat lots of candy. In the morning, it will be several 3 Musketeers and/or Snickers bars; I need them for energy. Lunch, at 1 or 2 PM, is a double meal of a Polish pork chop, sauerkraut and potatoes. An hour later, I work out, then take lots of supplements: magnesium, creatine, amino acids, all that stuff, and more chocolate. Dinner is whatever meat I can grab—steaks, pork chops, bacon—plus more sauerkraut and potatoes. At 9 or 10 PM, I work out again. Afterward, I have a protein shake and more chocolate. At 3 or 4 AM, I wake up and have more chocolate, then go back to sleep until morning." -- Mariusz
Oh gosh, dare I tell this to Snickers... hahaha.  It's bad enough that when he has a fight he goes on his notorious Coca-Cola diet, I don't want him doing this year-round!  Thankfully we didn't stay too long at LG.  Mind ya, it was long enough for Snickers to wolf down as much sugar as he could get his hands on.  He even wanted to take a choco-pie home, oh my.
