Here I am on holidays and yet it’s Pyen Chi
heading out the door for a “couple retreat” – a 10 day vacation down south with her very, very handsome blond Tibetian man.
How’s that for not fair?! Oh
trust me, Balboa definitely put up a stink when he watched her walk out the
door and get into the van without him.
He stood on our third floor balcony and whimpered.
I kissed Pyen Chi before she headed out the
door. Actually, I sat down with her and
she placed her head on my shoulder so I wrapped my arms around her. As funny as it sounds, I felt rather sad
watching her leave and it’s not because of the obvious fact that I’ll miss her
but because she’ll be returning with a part of her innocence gone. She'll be returning a changed Pyen Chi.
The other day Snickers was introduced to
Pyen Chi’s boyfriend, Jang Geun. His name means "General" as in the general of an army and that's exactly the command he gives off. Our
friends out in Chungju who breed the notoriously-known, horse-sized Russian
dogs helped us find Jang Geun and did a million and one questions with Jang
Geun’s owner. Jang Geun is five years
old. He’s about twice Pyen Chi’s size,
if you can believe that, and he’s absolutely stunning. He looks like a massive wild bear but he’s
super soft looking so he’s more like a massive wild teddy bear. His bark is really husky though – definitely a
Harlem romance novel leading hunk of a guy!
Jang Geun lives about three hours from Cheonan so tonight Snickers drove
Pyen Chi to his house where she’ll be staying for the next 10 days.
No Pyen Chi for 10 days?! I’m already not liking the thought of
that!! Who is going to spoon with me on
the floor when I take my mid-afternoon nap… Balboa?! Balboa is a great cuddle buddy but I’m always
somewhat nervous of rolling over him, whereas with Pyen Chi, it’s me I’m afraid of
being rolled over… hahaha.
I’m both super nervous but super excited
about the thought of Pyen Chi returning home pregnant. The vet gave us a detailed run-through on
what to do but I’m sure I’ll be making regular visits to him for help and doing
my own research.
And yes Anonymous, we will be selling Pyen
Chi’s pups to our friends who have been pleading with us to get her pregnant
ever since we got her. I must admit, and perhaps
I should apologize, but today I snapped at a comment you left me the other
week. You made it sound as if I didn’t
care about my dogs and am a irresponsible pet-owner by suggesting that I was somehow
to blame for Mi Nam’s terrible death and that I was money-driven. Well, you’re clearly wrong -- clearly wrong on so many levels -- and the only
reason why I thought perhaps I should apologize was not because of what I said
but how I said it. I couldn't exactly give you a round-robin head kick through my homepage so I spat at you with my words written. I am so much better than that though, to let
myself stoop to the low level where you were throwing your cheap comments from, but what you said was rude and so inappropriately off the mark.
So, why accept money from friends instead
of simply giving them her pups?... well, Pyen Chi is a massive dog with an
equally massive appetite. She basically
eats her weight in fresh raw meat and veggies on a daily bases. Do you know how much it costs to serve her
lamb and steak every day, not to mention having to continually stock up on it
and on fresh vegetables? Fresh meat
doesn’t have a long life. It’s pretty
expensive, as you can imagine. And then
there’s the fact that we also have to pay Jang Geun’s owner for letting him
breed with our beautiful Pyen Chi; that’s a heafty amount. The little money from the pups definitely will not even begin to balance out the breeding fee or Pyen Chi's expensive diet. We are definitely not making money off of this situation, if anything I'm dishing out so much money here.
There are three friends that want Pyen Chi’s
pups and we’ve sat down with all them individually to go over what exactly it
means to have a mini Pyen Chi added to their family. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, a
bored Pyen Chi is a bad Pyen Chi.
Although all dogs need love and attention, Pyen Chi’s breed (Tibetan
Mastiff) definitely needs attention. Tibetan
Mastiffs are a stubborn breed that’s hard to train and they do not like being
alone. Once boredom sets in, yikes, kiss
your table legs, running shoes, and even wallpaper goodbye. Moreover, although Pyen Chi is quite lazy in
the house and is content people-watching on the balcony all day, she does need
to be with an owner who will keep her physically active outside. Snickers takes her mountain hiking all the
time and I am probably outside with her a good 4-5 times a day. She’s good with young children and other dogs
though I must admit she’s not a fan of sharing her food or treats but then
again neither am I … hahaha.
So anyways, in 10 days my beautiful, beautiful Pyen
Chi comes home and then in 56 days perhaps some four-legged mini-Pyen Chi’s
will be joining us. I can so see
Snickers whining and insisting we keep one -- "Just one" he will plead. Am already preparing my speech about
that situation!!!

I'm excited to see pictures of mini Pyeb Chi's! I sincerely hope for Pyen Chi's happy return and health through everything. :)
I have a Ridgeback, and they're similar with their need for attention. If you don't give them the attention they need... well, I learned the hard way. There's a few holes in my couch.
Pyen Chi is going to be a great mom. She's already had practice with Balboa! So pretty!
