As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Challenging Myself... Tuesday, July 18

I’ve got another personal training client… very cool!

And this particular client is like non other…. so very cool!!!

I met with her today to have her sign the contract. I’m so totally stoked about taking on this particular new client.  She’s a Korean girl, about my age, and she only speaks Korean. It’s been over 12 years since she last tried to study English and she never learned how to read it.  I do have a Korean-only boxercise class – my K-Girls class – I’m able to teach them and lead the class with the Korean that I have.  However, personal training someone is so much more intense, not only with my interaction and communication but also with what I’m doing with them – teaching them about training and clean eating. For me, it’s a challenge but I definitely love a good challenge.  Having to translate all my training documents, Tips & Tidbits, and having to type up a personal training client file all in Korea is both time consuming and mentally hard but I’m rather fascinated by it all.
