With yesterday's unexpectedly awesome news from a new financial sponsor, I had a huge surge of energy today and was able to refocus. I'll be honest, for about a week there I was working hard on our boxing club but wasn't quite as focused as I should have been and was very much discouraged. Our initial financial sponsor had given us a two week countdown but it was painfully hard to slave away each day knowing that I was only one day closer to what something I've been already fighting and waiting for for so long. Two weeks is a long time to wait when you've been waiting since December! The plan was to get our boxing club up and going by March in anticipation of catching the new foreigners and new university Korean university students that'd be moving to Cheonan.
We've been waiting already so long, well it definitely feels like it. This is Korea. Things run with a 빨리 빨리 mentality [translation: hurry, hurry -- stresses the fast pace of Korean ways]. I fear the anticipation of our boxing club is losing it's hype, it's becoming a discouraging factor for me and I feel like it's starting to be all talk and no action with this financial sponsor coming through with his promise.
Two weeks?!!!
Two weeks, I know.... ㅠㅠ.
We haven't given up faith on our initial sponsor, we know he's always true to his promises and he's still got 5 days left to his two week promise but it's hard to be so eager to start and yet have to wait. Thankfully now we have an additional financial sponsor, and strangely enough it's another car dealership. Both our financial sponsors are car dealerships, one in Suwon (On Motors) and one here in Cheonan (WOW Motors). WOW Motor's contribution isn't nearly as large as On Motors but none the less it is very much appreciated and the fact that we were offered it yesterday and will pick it up tomorrow, it's value really is worth more than the figure it will sport in our bank account. It's definitely a huge pick-me-upper and an amazing encouragement to us. The beauty of this particular sponsor is that we never actually approached him about helping us out. He was simply a person we bounced ideas off of; a person that really had no connect whatsoever with our boxing club yet he's become a much respected mentor and sponsor. He's support goes further too -- he's sending some of his workers to participate in the Flipside Fitness A Day At the Races -- Round Two.
Tomorrow we're going to pick up our financial support from our sponsor so today I slaved away. I woke up at 10am and went to bed at 4am. We can't register our boxing club until we pay the full key deposit for the building and we've held off on this because of having to wait for the sponsor's loan that will fund all the construction and remodeling needed. There's no point paying for a building you can't quite work on. Everything, or so it feels like, is dependent on this money so the arrival of it will put everything into motion.
