As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Sunday, March 24, 2013

Sunday is always Fight Day -- a day of action-packed hardcoreness (yes, I know it's not a word but I'm using it here).  Whether it's training hard at boxercise, catching the UFC fights on TV or heading out to live fights, Sundays are always intense, full of fighting lingo and seem to always be bloody.

Ah Sundays!  This Sunday was full of live boxing, boys... and yes, blood.
But it was also full of strong woman so it was an exceptionally awesome Sunday!!!
Today my friend Jujeath had a fight.  Her opponent, the reining champ Park Ji Hyun, posed quite a challenging fight but Jujeath was awesome.  She definitely earned much respect among those in the crowd and those watching her on TV.
I got to see another strong woman in my life -- IFBA President, Mrs. Judy Kelis.  She always brings a warm hug for me and encouraging words.  I also got to see my promoter/friend Loren.  Ok, so he's definitely not a girl but he surely supports us female boxers beyond what is expected.
I anticipated today being an intense day on account that it'd be the first time I'd be running into Junior Mint since our talk back in December.  He was there because the Cheonan Bulldog was fighting for a champion title.  I knew I'd run into UP Boxing Club but what I didn't know is that I'd know the Cheonan Bulldog's opponent.  Snickers and him had traveled together to Japan for their fights.
After an overly intense and action-packed evening, we headed off to a massive fish market were we picked out a super delish meal of fresh fish and octopus.
This is the life of my meal, from the beginning when I first picked it out among the many fish takes to getting it weighed, the seller chopping it up, and then it ending up on my table.
Good fishy... delicious fishy, now go swim in my tummy fishy... yummy!!!
My fish took up two large plates on our table and was then joined by some other funky-looking dishes that I didn't quite care to venture to eat.  Raw octopus still wiggling and squiggling on my plate?!  No thanks.  And some octopus soup that turned black because of what I referred to as "brain juice"?!  No thanks.  Leave me be to the Korean sushi and veggie side dishes thanks.
Cheers.  To a great evening out with awesome friends, wicked boxing, talented boxers, and a chilly trip to the ocean beach!
